Lots of options. I have the tillman green shirt in the first row, and while it'll get pocked up from spatter, they last a long, long time.

I have one of these: Steiner 1230-L 30" 9oz. Green/gray Weldlite Plus Hybrid FR Cotton With Leather Sleeves Jacket, Large - Weldfabulous And it's the hottest of the three.

Then this is the sleeves I have. I never got the front part though and only spent about $40 on it at the time.

Could I just go to a second hand store and buy a 100% cotton long sleeve shirt?

Does anyone have any suggestions for protection for my arms? I have been wearing just a short sleeve shirt ( don't give me to hard a time, I'm just a newbie welder ) and my arms get "sun" burned every time I weld for more than a brief period. It seems my mig is more eager to "sun" burn me vs the stick.

I have a leather welding coat. Long sleeves and buttons in the front. Not super expensive. Does the job. Goes over a coat in the winter and can wear in the summer.
Don't weld with bare skin exposed. The UV rays are more intense than the sun. That's what I've been told by some experienced welders. Plus it keeps the hot spatter from landing on me.

I'd believe it. I never get natural sunburn. Just a few minutes welding and I look like a lobster.,

The welding shirts are thicker than an cotton you'll buy off the shelf. It's also treated with fire retardant. It's $16 too... You're worried about 16 bucks?

What makes you think I'm going to catch on fire? Maybe the fact that my forklift leaks oil and half the shop is covered in transmission fluid?
