Ammunition

I'm happy to say I won't be contributing to those high 22lr prices. I regularly picked up boxes of 550 @$18 a box awhile back. Jic. Mostly target shooting , but also stored up many hyper velocity rnds for hunting.

I haven't had time to use much at all and actually returned a brick of 500 federal that the copper jacket was very shoddy with no replacement.
Ammo prices are now as low as you'll ever see them again :(
Reloading supplies included.

Well the retailers are never going to drop prices until people stop buying it.

9mm 115gr FMJ at Precision Delta are now about 8.3 cents each when bought in bulk of 2000 or more.
Primers are about 3 cents each when bought in bulk
Powder is about 3 cents
So about 14-15 cents per round. so about $7.50 per box of 50. You might do a little better if you are careful or can get a larger group buy together.

Reloading, without casting, what area you at? Around $0.12/rnd of 9mm Para?

I'm running 14 cents each on 38spl or 357mag, reusing my cases, and figuring powder at 28-29$ a pound, and primers at 30$ a brick.

Mind you I might be doing a hair less, as some of my powder I bought at 25$, and some of my primers ran me only 28$ a brick.

projectiles are my big spend. can't remember the last batch.. but seems 40-45$ per 500. so..

maybee i'm doing 13-14 cents each on those cartridges... figuring 13.5 each @ 50 is 6.75$

not bad.

Rifle kills it though as instead of loading 4.5 grains.. might be loading 45 grains.. :) and the projectile is heavier.

So, I actually looked at a HI Point 995 carbine (9mm Parabellum) today. I don't like all the hard plastic forearm, but it sure felt light and seems like a fun "toy". They want $279, which is about where I'm OK being, and they take trade ins too. I have .40 SW HI Point that I recently got from a bad loan (... BIL...). I really wanted to get a 4095, to match another .40 wife's got, and I generally like the round. Now, I'm seriously pondering 9mm Para. Seems ammo is as low as $10.99/50 for steel cased FMJ, and the cheapest in Stock. 40 was $16.99/50 TMJ brass case. The other .40 is also a HI Point pistol my wife owns, but I think once she finally gets her CCW she's going with smaller caliber than .40.

Decisions...

I really would hate to end up stocking 9mm in Kruz, Makarov, and Parabellum sizes... something tells me I'd mess that up pretty quick.

Edit: i should have looked when I had it in hand, but can you move the bolt handle to the right hand side? I am right handed, but I am used too and like the AK/SKS bolt handle location.

Re-edit: the gun shop I visited, Putnam Feed and Farm, said he didn't have and his supplier didn't have in Stock the 4095 right now, just 995 and 4595.

I had never heard what had happened with your loan to your BIL, I remember the discussion about it.

guess it went poorly. sorry to hear that. Fromt he way the talk was going, I was guessing it would go that direction, unfortunately.

Well, I got like $110 of the $212 from him, and he has avoided us for the last month and a half, so, I plan to trade it it, and consider us square. If it was a gun I liked, I'd probably just keep it, but I really don't care for it much.

I'm heavily leaning towards 995 in 9mm now; ammo is quite a bit cheaper (as low as $10.99/50 for 9mm, compared to $16.99/50 for the .40).

best of luck to ya. I know it was a PITA situation with the load to family under the known circumstances.

So, I now own a HI Point 995. Green Acres Sporting goods gave me $100 for the .40 pistol, which about what I expected. New gun was $299, plus tax, background, and 100 rounds 0f 9mm, worked out to be $266.

So, as I'm opening the box, I notice it says 995, with a check mark, and it also lists 3895. So, I ask what's a 3895? Salesman doesn't know, I was wondering about .38 Spl/357 carb; he says maybe .380 acp. So, after a quick google, there is a new 3895 in .380 acp\9mm Kruz on the market in March. So, although that doesn't interest me, it might others. I really really wish they had made that 3895 in a Makarov... i know I know, only marginally better than .380, but I have a PM Makarov that I really like, ammo is cheaper than .380 ACP... oh well

Yup, I've seen the 380.

PS.. I think you got an amazing trade in deal if you got 100$ on a used HP pistol, that they will have to resell, and make a profit on.

They are around $169.99 new, but I notice a lot of places trying to get $219 out of them. Carbines go from $269 to 319, but seems a lot of places asking $369-400. Heck, look at Gunbroker.com, they guys wanting $350, plus $35 shipping, plus $30-50 transfer, plus background.

His ammo was a bit high, he wanted $18/50 for what Academy sells for $12.99; but he went down to $16/50 when I told him what they sell it for. Saves a trip.

If you are ever in Duval County/Jacksonville, Clay County area, they have a good selection of odd ammo. He had 7.5mm french, 8x57, 7.65x53, .30 carbine, .30 tokarev, 4 "BucketoBullets" 1000 round of .22lr; 6.5 mauser, ect
