How much does that log weigh?

I realized that big boulder I lifted with the backhoe (which only has 4500# lift to max height) didnt really have anything to reference the size. The bucket is alot bigger than it looks.

Here is my 5' standard kubota bucket next to the 5500 bucket.

So that should give some perspective to the size of this boulder

A loader than can only lift 4500# shouldnt have made that lift. But my breakout spec (lift cap at ground level) is 8000#

You've made a strong claim and have shared nothing to back it.
My experience tells me is isn't going to happen........whether you believe me or not ?, my "don't give a dam" meter is still on. lol

Keep your kool-aide handy, your claims will impress your buddies...

This reminds me of a loaded semi that stalled on the road about 3 miles from here... A guy came out and said he'd get his CUT and pull it off the road... Myself and another farmer kind-a-chuckled and he didn't like that. Well, pretty soon here he comes, and guess what??? lol lol

It was pretty humorous to watch, as he left red faced and of course the trucker had to wait for the wrecker, that was already on it's way there...

AS for BIG boulders? I just use the equipment made for lifting,

BTW, that forklift is "rated" 24,500 (with it's counter weight)

Nobody's mind is going to be changed here. I'm ok with unresolved disagreement. BTW, Love the fork truck! Wish I had one like that.

Got an estimate on the weight of that boulder? Looks real close to the size of the one I moved.

How far forward do those forks tip? I have always though one of those would be awesome at stumping. Tip forward and drive the forks under a stump and pop it out. For their size, forklifts have enormous lifting capacities.

Ever had it buried?

After all this discussion I feel compelled to buy a big scale!

I'm thinking 6 to 7 tons for that boulder... to me it looks quite a bit bigger than the one in the bucket of your TLB.

Thats why judging from pictures is hard. To me it looks similar, using the guy on the forklift as a reference.

The one in the bucket of the ford I posted, is a little over 6.5' long. My bucket on that hoe is 6.5', and it is wider than that. It was touching the far side, and hung over a tad on the near side. IIRC, it was about 36" wide, and the height is kinda tapered. The Near side in the picture sticking out of the bucket is ~36" tall, and the far side maybe 24". The cutting edge to top of bucket is 32".

I figure somewhere between6000-7000 40-45 cubic ft. Granite being ~160lb/cubic ft.... 6000-7000# best I can guess.

The boulder on them forks appears to be ~6' long and about 3' high x 3' wide as well. Pretty close. But again, hard to guess the scale. Them could be 12' forks on that thing and a 10' long boulder....

The one I pictured is out by my parents flagpole, I'll try to get a picture of it later today with something in the picture for size reference.

My platform scale went to 1k. After we moved, I was looking for a larger platform scale and discovered crane scales. Found this 5k on eBay for just over $300.

You could load it in your truck and drive across truck scales.

More time than it's worth. Plus the log is gone. half of it already went into the wood stove.
