Duct Cleaning -- and then the upsell

I'm with those who said duct cleaning is a waste of time and money. My guess is that it's never needed and a total scam. The filter does all the work, make sure you change your filter once a month and you add bleach to your drain. Odds are that if you run anything through your duct, you risk opening up a duct and creating a problem that was never there before.

While we were building our new house, when it was close to complete, we spent a weekend "camping" there and brought our two cats. We had an open 4x8 floor register opening underneath where the kitchen cabinets were going to be installed, so it had no actual register installed. To my amazement, our little cat went down it and got stuck about 18" in. To try to prevent her from going any farther and winding up on top of the evap coil, I squeezed down the duct just in front of her. Luckily, had good access in the open basement. Like to NEVER got that cat back out! Thought I was going to have to pull duct connections apart or cut them! Did you know you can pull on a cat's tail REALLY hard without it coming off?

Evaporator pan drain from the AC to keep the crud out. I use AC pills for that,they are time released.

My AC unit has a piece of pvc pipe going over to the floor drain.

You need to watch the pipe from the AC to the floor drain. Short runs really don't clog like long straight runs.

My drain pipe is pretty short, probably down 4 feet and over 4 feet
