That's correct - they have the range selector on the left, and the gear selector on the right.

The last stick shift I had was a 2000 Z28. It should be the same, right? :p

Can you tell from the pictures if either of these has the 3rd function hydraulics already installed so I can hook up a grapple?

LOL. It's not terrible, my R4041 (same as that Boomer 40) was a shuttle. But I do alot of loader work, and back-and-forth stuff, so I much prefer HST. I think that Boomer is a good deal, but I think you'd be better off with HST. That Kubota is a very good deal, just make sure that you don't mind the pedal setup on the Bota

Likely neither. But you can run a set of hoses from the rear remotes to the front for the grapple. That's what I had done with my R4047 when I had one. Simple, easy, cheap

I'd go with the Kubota especially since it is cheaper. It being a HST ( one of the best HST transmissions IMO ) is really the icing on the cake IMO. The specs are similar with really the only notable difference is the increased HP on the NH. This Kubota has a different pedal style than most Kubotas which IMO is a huge improvement. If this is your first tractor I think you could live with about any pedal style. Just by looking I don't think either tractor has 3rd function hydraulics.

The L3240 is a better machine, hands down. Better hydraulics, better Trans, more features, better loader, etc etc etc. L3800 isn't a bad machine, but the L3240 is better.

I do not like the operating station on the Kubota "regular" L's. They have a distinct, uncomfortable hump under your feet.

The Grand L operating stations have flat floors, are more spacious. Comfortable all day; I have had many full day experiences.

Grand L's have heavier frames. (L3800 = 2,700 pounds/L3240 =3,400 pounds)

+700 pounds is a lot of steel providing additional strength.

Both have 400 engine hours +/-.

Check out the Grand L first.

Tractor warranties are much, much more limited than vehicle warranties. What you think is a tractor warranty claim Kubota will tell you is operator's error.

As a rookie, it is in your interest to purchase KTAC tractor insurance for $400 per year. For me, that is $1 per hour. I keep KTAC permanently on every Kubota I own. "It pays."
