justin I see they paint the floor (orange dots) near water and electric. Is it not a code to use a metal protection plate at the bottom cord (within 1 1/4" of the stud surface of the wall) where wires or water penetrate to protect them from drywall screws or nails.
That's the belt and suspenders approach. The orange dot is to remind the guy with a screw that something is in the wall.

Personally, I think Eddie is trying to help
But I also think he is trying to show that he knows better.

After reading his thread about the foundation he was going to use and some other of his posts about putting water lines higher than the frost line, he is not the expert builder he portrays. He is a good craftsman and a remodeler.

I'm always amazed at personal attacks. Sorry you feel the need to go there.

Eddie, I personally appreciate your knowledge and candor. My respect for you even increased by your mature response above. Others, maybe even me, would have likely vented in stronger retaliation to a personal attack like that.

That was a pretty mild "personal" attack. My only reason for posting is his numerous negative comments about Justin's build job on rather picky items many of which were false alarms. I feel that when someone is in their first build, there is no reason to add to the stress. I just don't want Justin to assume there is more to it than that.

I wish Eddie well and do like much of his craftsmanship. But the builder building Justin's house probably has much more experience building homes literally from the ground up.
