We live on 5 very thickly wooded acres and the house is about 375' back from the road. You can't really see the house from the road due to the trees and brush. There is a "No Trespassing" sign about 50' in from the end of the driveway.
Around 12:30 Saturday night, sweetie had fallen asleep on the couch and I was about half-awake watching SNL (which I haven't watched in YEARS!) in my underwear (yeah, I know - TMI!). One of our driveway alerts went off and got the dog going. We get false alarms from time to time so I wasn't too concerned, but I got up and looked out the window and there were headlights coming slowly down the driveway. I flipped on the floods, threw on a pair of pants and grabbed my pistol. By the time I got out to the deck, they were turning around and heading back out the driveway, leaving tracks through my grass in the process. I grabbed my keys, put my shoes on hopped in my truck but couldn't find them. I did call the dispatcher as I was driving around and gave them a description but without a license number, there wasn't much to go on other than a red pickup with amber marker lights above the cab.
So, to answer the OP's question - No, there is nothing wrong with you. Or me either, for that matter. No one has a right or a legitimate reason to come down a dark lane after midnight on a Saturday night. This is the third or fourth time this has happened in the 5 years we've lived here. This is the first time that I wasn't fast enough to get in my vehicle and follow them while on the phone with the dispatcher.
Each time I keep adding to our security measures. Sweetie and I have been talking about a gate and I think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on one now. I'm also going to put in another camera that has better night vision than the one I currently have.
I'm generally a really friendly guy and try not to be too much of a *#$$ if someone comes down the driveway during the day. Generally they're just older, local folks that are inviting others to their church. I did have one guy that was selling frozen meet out the back of his truck and I told him he'd better be paying better attention to the No Trespassing sign on my drive and others in the future. But, as I said - there's no legitimate reason for someone to be coming down a dark lane late at night.
