Piranha tooth bar for GC1720 with DL95 loader

Hey guys, sorry for the delay in my own pics. I did get it mounted up, with a similar fit as shown above. Looks like they cute he tooth bar a bit short and bend/angle the mounts to meet the bucket width. This obviously allows some variation or small errors on the measuring side.

Are you referring to my grapple thumb?

I might just purchase that grapple thumb. I cannot see spending 900 dollars on the quich attach just so i can buy a grapple.

Fixiks,

I see the website mentions there are 4 sizes of this grapple thumb:

1. Which size did you get and what determined that size ?

2. How much weight is the thumb plus any reinforcement that was needed for it?

3. What is involved in detaching it and reattaching the grapple thumb? Is there a quick connect/ disconnect or is it bolts and nuts ?

4. The website mentions reinforcement may be needed for lighter buckets . . Did your bucket need reinforcement?

Oaklaa,

I think its important to recognize every implement or addon has advantages and disadvantages users need to focus on. Fiziks needs may be much different than what you are doing. You are working with bigger wood and rock issues from pictures you've shown In my case I wanted fast bucket removal to get 155 pounds gone and use a much stronger fork set located directly next to the pins rather than clamp on forks attached to a bucket. Also when I do get a mini grapple this year, I want a full grapple capability with a small weight to it (77 pounds) and again not a bucket or its weight or size . . involved.

My purposes are for bigger sizes and for tighter places to access. I also want to be able to reach into an area with a unit that is a foot wide rather than 3 or 4 feet wide because I want to grab and move big rocks from a pile or pull downed trees or large limbs or logs out of a tight area.

My point Ooklaa is all these different choices of addons and implements are targetted on your needs in size or terrain conditions you are working on.

I understand the needs axle, its just hard to overcome the price factors of some things. Their are a assortment of different grapples im looking at. Price range around 1400 for a grapple add your 3rd vavle 600-800. If you get it installed add 600-900. Ill be doing it myself tho. So now add the quick attach for 900 we are looking at a potential price of 4,000 dollars for a mini grapple setup.

Where i think the thumb with 3rd valve is around 1200 bucks. I know im missing lines etc for the kits so im just giving round numbers.

I'm not sure where you are getting your pricing from but a mini grapple is considerably less than you mention while a full width grapple is about your number. A 3rd valve is likely a bit more but the install labor is less using quotes I got.

I'm sure you already understand that a grapple thumb like fiziks has also requires a 3rd valve and installing. And as I mentioned . . the way Fiziks uses his probably the thump is a fine choice . . And of course he already gad the 3rd valve put on for his snowblower needs so adding the thumb was very inexpensive as a choice.

I figure having a 3rd valve or full remote will benefit me for the grapple choice plus if I do that plow creation I'll use it for that as well.

But some of us like you and myself have to cost justify our choices while some have more flow and heftier bank accounts :)

Hey fiziks who did the install?

Goffs did the install for me.

I got the 24" model which hits the bucket edge perfectly. I think I could have gone with the 28" version with the piranha tooth bar installed.

I would guess the thumb plus the reinforcement is 50lbs maybe?

It comes off with 3 pins, one for each side of the lid and one for the cylinder.

I don't know if I *needed* reinforcement, but I had a piece of 3/8 bar welded to the top. Also had a coupe of hooks welded up there as well.

Axle what mini grapples are you looking at? The landprode grapple over the phone price was 1450, everything attachments same price And their was on other company that I saw and their price was 1599 looked just like the landpride but was a lot beefier.

Fizziks I assumed it was goffs that did the install. The next question would be you have any pictures or videos of that thumb at work?
