I'm not trying to say we don't have certain rights, but there are laws and they need enforced. Where do you think they get money to build roads? In Illinois local roads are funded by what they call MFT-motor fuel tax. If they don't enforce it people will cheat and they won't have any money. They have the right to enforce sales taxes, income taxes, property taxes. Why not motor fuel taxes? Quit bitching and don't break the law. I know in Illinois game wardens have the right to go on private property to enforce hunting laws, so do the guys enforcing the dyed fuel laws.

It's the idea of going Private property to enforce a law that only applies to public roadways.

Just because I have a vehicle licensed for road, doesn't mean I use it on the road.

As to DNR, I didn't know it was illegal to carry a loaded gun after dark. Hunting....sure. But target shooting at night under spotlight isn't illegal AFAIK

Yes in Illinois it's common the DNR guys wait by someone's truck around dark and check them. If it's a loaded weapon you are considered to be hunting. I don't like rules and laws anymore than the next guy, but it's not hard to understand why they have them. I can't believe how worked up you are over them dipping fuel tanks. Do you get upset when I cop shoots you with a radar gun even when you aren't speeding?

During deer season, you may only have a loaded gun during shooting times, which is about daylight. It is illegal to have a loaded rifle to protect yourself on the walk out from wolves, bears, or meth head cooks. To me this is unconstitional. Non hunting season, they probably ticket you for hunting out of season. Without the burden of any evidence. To arrest you for attempted murder they would have to have you pointing the gun, or some proof of intent.

When I am baiting bears before season, it is illegal for me to have loaded gun on the 4 wheeler which is loaded with cookies and gummy bears. Illegal at 50 gallon can of popcorn.

In my opinion a citizen should be allowed to have loaded firearm for their protection pretty much anywhere.


Funny thing I can 44 mag with 10" barrel and scope under my coat, if I have a carry permit, but not a long gun.

I am all for cops patrolling the streets. But they have no right to arrest or ticket me, until I have broke the law, or given reasonable cause.

Dipping a stick in my tank and handling my property is different then a radar gun from a distance. There is debate about the tool that shines into a car and can see alcohol your breath, when a cop stops you.

It's like a guy I know that had too much drink one night and went to his car to sleep it off in the back seat... police knock on the window and told him no overnight in the car... he said he was not able to drive... they took him in for a DUI.

He was not driving... he was not on a public road and no one called in a report... reason was he was in a car alone with the keys on his person...

I think it was pleaded down... kind of scary when you think about it.. at least to me.

Picked up for driving under the influence and not driving.

Part of the reason I had been stopped on the way home from graveyard... thing is I never drink... so once that was established and that I had proper license, insurance and reg... I was sent on my way...

Now if the car was full of beer cans, they would have to prove he didn't drink them there.

When I was a kid we would put the keys on the roof or hood, when sitting in the car drinking so they couldn't say we were drinking and driving. In that case I feel is made legal sense cause we were not driving. Luckily I never found out how it would actually be treated.
