Ever lose something mysteriously in the woods?

My wife and I used to eat at a small Mexican restaurant every Fri night in the mid 80s. Once we got up to pay I reached for my credit card and it was not in my wallet. With shock on my face, I looked at the cashier who said in her Hispanic accent, "Oh we have that right here". I had left it there last week. No fraudulent charges ever appeared.

I once thought I lost a nice pocketknife by foolishly setting it on the rear bumper of the truck while I was fixing something. It wasn't even worth looking for because I had driven about 15 miles later that day and it was surely gone. Imagine my shock when I found it sitting on the rear bumper the next morning, right where I left it.

When I set my glasses on the roof of the car, they weren't there anymore after a trip to the store; maybe next time I should try the bumper.

My kinda restaurant and owner.

I drove away from a local Wendy's once on the way to a movie, and forgot my 13$ and receipt, and after the movie, we went back and found out from the manager that the cashier had bundled them together to give to us if we came back.

We tried to give him 5$ back to give to her to say thanks, but he wouldn't take it "against company policy"...

SixDogs, and Mr. MacGregor,

Or leave it on the valve cover....

Back in the early 60's, my father once added oil to our old Chevy station wagon at home near Buffalo, NY before driving down to visit family in Philly, PA, and when we got home, and he went to check the oil, the oil fill cap was still sitting there on the valve cover where he left it.
No oil ended up sprayed around the engine compartment either.

Vise-Grip pliers once had a series of ads that showed pliers that had been clamped on something, forgotten, and had traveled thousands of miles without coming loose.

When you get to a certain age and lose something it does not really matter as you soon forget what you have lost.

I think I might have seen [or maybe contributed to] some of those.

I also think that there may be a thread or two here on TBN about items found in the bodywork of cars and another about tools and such that got somehow left inside, or fell inside walls.

Last house I remodeled had the old bathroom mirror with the razor slot. For blade disposal before safety razors became popular.
I found a bunch of them down below inside the wall between the studs when we replaced the drywall. Also found some old beer cans in the bathroom wall behind the tub. Pretty cool.

Well thats a bummer. I lost a 12 ft G80 chain earlier last fall. we looked for 30 minutes retracing our tracks. with no luck. thankfully it was not a $400 saw. I went back a week later and still no luck finding it. we try to make sure they stay in the bucket when we are not hauling wood with them

I totally understand this. I lost a 20' chain and it drove me nuts!!!!! 6 months later I just happened to find it right where I'd looked before. Do to this experience I now spray paint all my chain ends or anything else that can be painted bright orange. I paced and paced scratching my head.

Another crazy thing. I lost an arrow (bolt) out back. I searched and searched and it was gone .... This was fall. The next year the grass grew up and was brush hogged. I found the bolt. Aside from the tip being corroded it was in perfect condition ..... I can only shake my head. No explanation

What kind of beer were they from?

When we remodeled our old house's bathroom, I found old local newspapers dated 1949 in the spaces between the wall studs, they did not appear to have been out there for any particular reason, but the weird thing is that the house wasn't built until 1957.

Go figure.

I don't remember the brand. The cans were all rusty otherwise I would have saved them. The house was built in 59 so they were most likely originals.
