Beautiful work!!!
Could you have gotten by without the winch by lifting and curling the bucket to adjust the height of the trusses?

Probably not at that length. Very jerky and dangerous that way. If it was shorter, probably.

Darn! Now if I copy your idea, I'll probably have to go out and but a winch. :)

I like it! did a similar deal when building my garage with my Ford 3000 and mounted one of the little winches on the top of a double 2 x 6x 13 foot mast. Walls were 14 feet.

It worked great for me and a friend to set the trusses for the garage.

These kind of truss setters have saved some of us tbners enough money,( that was not spent on a piece of rental equipment ) to buy a good used attachment or implement for our tractors:thumbsup:

When I set my trusses I invited all the women in the neighborhood to come over. They picked them up, carried them into the garage, and handed them up to myself and a helper. 20 trusses on a 24 X 40' garage in less than an hour. Pizza, beer, and swimming afterwards.

Nice! Extra Man Points if skinny dipping was involved!

Are you on the big lake too?

Cottage on Winter Harbor, live in the woods a few miles away. Where are you? Thankfully no man points, as we mature there are some things left covered!

Sounds like having the girls help worked out great,
I think it kind of depends on the type of truss being lifted- and the wall height.
Our garage had 14 foot walls and the 2x8 trusses span 30 feet (fairly heavy) also- only had the 2 of us to get them into position.
The tractor and winch /boom has proved almost indispensable for a few of us to get the trusses placed with minimal help.

I think it is great that there is such a sense of community spirit in your neighborhood- Hopefully something that will continue and grow.

Your trusses are bigger, mine were only 2 X 6 and 24 feet long. The walls are 10' on top of a course of cinder blocks so a little shorter lift also. We live on a private road with an association, have an annual Christmas party as well as a road clean-up and brush party. Great group of people!
