Ever lose something mysteriously in the woods?

I once thought I lost a nice pocketknife by foolishly setting it on the rear bumper of the truck while I was fixing something. It wasn't even worth looking for because I had driven about 15 miles later that day and it was surely gone. Imagine my shock when I found it sitting on the rear bumper the next morning, right where I left it.
Friday I passed a Ranger pickup on the local 2x3 lane highway. He was rolling along at about 60. On the rear bumper tucked in to the taillight close enough it was leaning back out, was a Dairy Queen 16 oz cup with a spoon out the top. I imagine the vacuum sucked it in and held it in place. I was really tempted to pull in behind him and see how far it would go, but it was almost dinner time.

I had a 75 chevy step side and was on a trip. I filled up and when it was time to fill up again the fuel cap was still laying on the step. Made me happy. Ed

Well, here's a "found" story. Years ago, bow hunting in Colorado, I stumbled upon an old double-bitted axe embedded in a rotting stump. The handle was nearly totally rotted away, but, after a bit of rust-buffing, the head was still in usable shape...I still have the axe (with a new handle now). Now, if I could just find the draw bar that fell off my tractor somewhere, I'd be even happier to report that to this thread!

My wife has returned several things that she finds walking in the paths that I cut for her... except no sign of my cell phone. I've found it before by calling it... this time it went straight to voice mail so I'm pretty sure the mower got it.

Today I found/rescued a set of keys from the highway. I ran an ad in the local area FB group, but I plan to attempt to panic every parking lot I hit. If I find the owner's car, I plan to leave the keys on the driver's seat and then they will have a ghost story. :)

These need to find their home.

Is that a flashlight or a cannister of drugs? Or both?

Finally, I got smart. I bought a cheap metal detector to find lost parts. Now I never drop or loose parts anymore.

This worked for me for a while, with a $5 tag sale cheapie "toy" metal detector...right up until a friend lost something and I loaned them the detector.
