I believe the smaller Massey tractors are built by Iseki, one of the oldest players in the market and known for top quality in market.
I'd say they were similar to Yanmar but perhaps some improvements due to many years of refining products. Not a heavy tractor though relative to others
I believe. Interesting that Mahindra puts such an emphasis on being heavier. Weight is great when you are pulling things. Not so great trying to get across your
nice lawn with a full bucket and not imprint the entire way, usually with the front tires. If you can keep the tractor off the lawn, go for as much weight as you can.
Or add as much weight as practical to your new tractor. Most of these Asian tractors are inherently light it seems, all unnecessary weight cut out, like on compact cars.

Good post. Kubota, yanmar, and iseki are the premier trio imo for engine building in diesel. All three have built products for their brand but also engines for 3 decades for others of prominence. And all three also engineer and build the complete tractors for Kubota/yanmar/Massey.

If you mention the weight factor . . Some brands focus on their weight because weight is a cheap thing to have. But the Japanese diesel builders focus on "power-per-pound) just as Honda and Toyota have done in gas engines. They understand that payload is the important thing. Better engineering and skillful design are stronger and more efficient per pound. And lighter but stronger weight and engines requires less fuel to produce greater horsepower or torque or both.

I would like to see your data on this.

Not for nothing but Mahindra uses Mitsubishi Diesel engines built in Japan. I definitely wouldn't discount these products as less than or not equal too. As far as weight goes some people need more for the work they require the tractor to be able to produce Axel. As far as being to heavy and not leaving an imprint on your lawn, not everyone needs a lawn mower for their tractor and don't expect their tractor not to leave a mark. On the flip side my Max24 doesn't mark up my lawn, and when it's time to work it moves piles of manure, snow, dirt or whatever it's put up to just fine too.

I thought Mitsubishi built some Mahindra tractors (1500 series) using Mahindra engines and TYM built other Mahindra tractors with Mahindra engines (2500 series).

The Max 24/26xl and 15xx are Mitsubishi and the 25xx is TYM

I've been to two so far and have 2 or 3 more to go to. I wanted to check out LS tractors, but they're about 1.5 hours away so I think I won't be going there.

Hey Dave3NC, I just purchased an LS XR4140H with FEL and BH. I am only a few miles from you (Apex) and you are welcome to check out my LS if you are really interested in seeing what LS offers. Much shorter drive than to dealer. Let me know if you are interested. Good luck hunting!

Now there's an offer and since he'd be in the Raleigh area, he could look at some Mahindras too.
