Kioti CS2410 with splitfire log splitter

I don't know if the splitter will work vastly better or not but the relief valve setting on the loader is 2275 psi and the backhoe operating pressure is 2000 psi. I have checked my pressures and they are at or slightly over spec.

I just spoke to my dealer and he said that he "thought" the CK 2510 would have 2500 PSI. I asked if he has put a gauge to one yet and he said no.

As stated earlier GPM=speed. PSI=power. My friend has a L3010 30 HP tractor and his TSC splitter is slloooowww. But powerful.

My tow behind has this two stage pump http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200321051_200321051 linked to a 5.5 hp Honda and a 24" stroke 4" diameter cylinder. It will put out a max 3000PSI.

A 3pt splitter will be slow and weak unless you have 11 GPM and 2700 PSI.

If you added another valve set at the tractors max up to the splitters max you will up the power (IMO).

My advice is sell it and buy a tow behind. It frees up your tractor to bring wood to the splitter and a 5.5hp Honda at 3500rpm uses less gas than a 25 hp tractor at 2600 rpm.

My :2cents: and not an expert.

BTW the pump on the CK2510 is rated at 11.3 GPM but according to knowledgeable people here that is split between the steering and all other uses (about 5-6 GPM for the steering)

Also, the BH is supposed to be operating at 2,466 PSI, so the power should be there, just not the speed. (FEL relief shd be 2,275 PSI).

I didn't have any problem with speed as it was on my 2410, it was slightly slow but not terrible. Being a two way splitter speed isn't that much of a factor.

Then you should be happy if they set the relief pressure right. I think you said the dealer checked it and said it was OK. Ask him what the reading was. OK is an answer people give to shut you up. I suspect my loader relief is set too low but I'm not bringing it to the dealer to have him tell me it's "OK".

Thread from the dead, but its some good info and thought.
I'm about to modify an elec splitter with a shot motor to use on the tractor and mount on the 3pt. Been doing the math to see how it will work.

My CS2410 puts out 6.5gpm and 1850psi from the aux ports at the back.
The splitter cyl. I haven't measured, so I'll use the dimensions posted earlier in the thread, 2.75"x24"
Force=Area x pressure
a=Dsq x .8754 A=6.62 6.62x1850= 12,247pounds of force, or 6.12tons.
So that's going to be the power of the splitter. Now the cycle time....
Volume = Area x length 6.62 x 24 =158.8 cu in. A gallon is 231 cu in, so the cyl takes .68gal to fill.
That's close enough to one tenth of the 6.5gpm output so a full 24" stroke should be about 6 seconds. Thats one way, the other way (retract) the volume of the cyl will be less by the displacment of the rod, and a bit faster, although less power as well.
The pump, a gear pump with open center control, puts out 7hp.
Flow x psi/1714=HP 6.5x1850/1714=7.01
As pump outlet pressure increases, efficiancy deteriorates and flow slows a bit, but full 24" stroke is almost never needed either, most often 6-8" will break a block. So cycle time should be 4ish seconds.

Let us know how it goes. My Honda powered splitter has an 11GPM pump at 2750 psi. And it's adequately fast, much faster than my friends 3 pt splitter on his L3010. But I think we both have 24"x 4" cylinders. SO that volume will slow us down equally.

Also I like having the freedom of splitting and still being able to move the wood with the bucket. FWIW I bought my splitter long before I had a tractor and I might have been tempted to get a 3 pt splitter if I had a tractor.

I built a 3/4" plywood shelf for the side opposite the controls on my splitter. I park the tractor with the bucket almost touching the plywood and can rest halves on the plywood when I have to quarter a piece of wood. Cutting your wood to close to the same length also reduces your cycle time. Once you learn when to stop on retract. I use a stick and railroad chalk to mark the tree. Takes a minute or less and your wood stack will thank you. I've learned to fill the bucket and stack almost as much as the bucket holds on top of it. Then drive carefully to the wood shed. :)

I made a cross wedge to make it a 4 way splitter (only works on straight grain). And I marked 16,18 and 20 inches on my chainsaw so it acts as a ruler while bucking wood so they're about the same length.
