pickup, truck, or tractor, on road seat belt, off road no seat belt, as frequently opening and shutting gates.

Back on 1988 I was a passenger in my own car. ( IROC Camaro ) We hit black going maybe 45/50 mph. Car spun into oncoming traffic and was hit directly on the passengers door by a car coming the other way. The impact pushed the inside of the door over the passengers seat and hit the driver on his right shoulder. I was ejected out of the TTop. Has I been wearing a seat belt, no doubt I wouldn't be here today. I still don't wear one today.

Always do, since 1983 I think. Went on a road trip to South Dakota to hunt prairie dogs with a couple guys, and the truck's owner insisted we wear them since his insurance coverage was doubled if we did. That 24 hour trip there, and then back, conditioned me to always grab for the belt to buckle up and I have 100% of the time ever since.

I gotta admit, there are times when I miss the days you shoved them down into the bench seat, never to be seen again.

I do wear them, vehicles today make it hard not to and it of course is much safer.

But, there still is a mindset that creeps into my peabrain that says, "dam nit government don't tell me what to do!"

Took me quite awhile to get in the habit as I resisted changing with the law. But now it's habit and automatic. The only time I don't is in taxi rides and this is when I really should. I guess I want to be able to jump out quickly. Especially in foreign countries. The drivers are crazy, I think they like to show off how 'great' a driver they are!

I always buckle up in the car or the pickup, before I start the engine!! With the tractor,
it depends on what I'm doing. When snowblowing with the rear mounted snowblower,
NO! Even on flat ground I use the belt on the tractor in certain instances, since there's
always the possibility of a potential sink hole or a large soft spot, which can quickly
alter the cg of the machine.

A "sink hole" in the "granite state"?
How does THAT happen?

There are some areas on the property where stumps were buried
32 years ago when the land was cleared to build my house. Driving
over one of these area can result in a sudden 'sinking' feeling when
one rear wheel changes elevation quickly - creates an impressive
'pucker' factor.

Always. When a policeman was asked what helmut to wear on a motorcycle, he asked "How much is your head worth?"

I'd say you should ask the same thing to yourself: "How much is my body or life worth?"

Seat belts save lives. Been wearing them since about 1960 when I had to actually put belts into my vehicles.

I do in cars, trucks, and airplanes. Never wear them or the Ranger or Tractors.

Chris
Same here but add never wear them on motorcycles, boats or lawnmower either. I actually removed the ROPS from my ZTR mower because it kept scarring up my trees and I didn't want to remove the low limbs yet. I ran the ROPS on the lawnmower till I tried all the hills at various angles and determined that no way was the mower going to tip, it would slide sideways before rolling or loose traction if climbing straight up a hill before tipping. I wont wear them on tractor or RTV due to minimal rollover threat but I always wear them in automobiles which includes my truck and class A motorhome. I have been a faithful user since 1971 when as a passenger I sustained a broken neck from a near head on collision. I don't think I would have had a scratch had I been wearing seat belt and the shoulder harness that was on the 1970 Ford Torino which I think was the first of its kind in a passenger car. All passengers get buckled in before I move and I also encourage any driver that I may be a passenger with to buckle up if for no other reason than to shut up that dinging bell.
