Thanks for doing that. Does yours make that rubbing sound as well when in variable terrain?

Service manager says there is no zerk, nylon bushings replaced the grease fitting. He said the max 28 had a grease fitting.

Cramby, I know where the pivot is, what I don't see a Zerk in your photo, unless I am missing something. Surely they can't mean just trying to squeeze some grease in on the surface.

Is your tractor a MAX or E Max? I just looked at the parts breakdown for both. Both show the pivot pin in through the front with a zirk and nut behind. I wonder if your zirk may be on the frame. Try jacking up the front so you can pivot the axle and peek in each side.:confused3:

Just looked at the service manual for R&Ring front axle. No zirks. Manual says apply grease when assembling.Looks like at some point you owners should pull the front axle pivots and lube.

My Kubota has grease fittings on the front axle pivot bearings plus a bearing preload adjustor, as they must be angular contact bearings, while Max28 has none of these features.
Max Axle bearings look like ordinary radial pillow blocks.

It would be nice to be able lubricate this pivot. The tie rod ends on the Max have grease points, my L39 is lubed for life, that being 10 years or 2000 hours as I just found out!

My Max is the original Max, no Zerk.

Check the cowling around the Universal in the front, that was the sound is like when the cowling is loose, and it is mostly when going forward when it is loose. It has two set screws as well as 8 virtical screws. It is like a clam shell except is is round where it clamps around the rubber toward the back side of the shaft mount.

That was the noise on mine. The cover comes loose. Use Locktite on the threads and it will stay put.
