Dozer Man will work his D6 for a hundred bucks an hour. After reading what many of you have written, I may give him some work on that road. After that, I can maintain it with the tractor.

My builder says he can get all the stuff in he needs to build the house if I fill in the washouts in the steep, ledge-rock part. I can easily do that with the tractor. That bad part is only about a thousand feet from the county road and it washes out with a heavy rain. Quite frankly, after the house is built, that washed out portion is a FEATURE as it keeps the unwanted away from our place which lies another mile+ down the road.

LOL Wouldn't a locked gate be easier to deal with? What if you need to get your wife to a doctor or something of maybe she has to get you to one and that road is washed out.

There IS a good gate with a lock on it out at the entrance by the county road. But, there is another land owner. He owns the 80 acres fronting the county road. I'm a mile further down the access road from his place. There is another 80 acre plot for sale between him and me.

The access road continues through my land down to the river. No one seems to know who owns that land, but they may need access at some time. I have thought of doing some research at the courthouse to find out who owns it. If I can, then I will contact them about putting up a locked gate at the entrance to my property and providing them a key or a combination.

In the meantime, that bad part of the access road near the county road sure keeps idle curiosity seekers out. The tires on my Ram 3500 are wide enough to straddle the washouts or steer around them to the side, but it is still a creep in low range at 1 mph.
