As you are new to tractors, I recommend "new". There is a lot more to operating a tractor than you expect.

Called on this, came down on the price quite a bit. VERY tempting.

Not that I need a backhoe but I'm sure I could find a use for it. Or sell it and pay for other implements?

Humm, I'd take the weekend off from this and start fresh on Monday with the dealer you liked that had the tractor you liked and the price you liked. Your boss liked the service department as well. What's not to like?

You're right. I think its the one. Just a little sticker shocked on a bottom line of 37.7 w/ grapple, bush hog and tax.

You guys think a Land Pride RCR 1872 for $2195 and a Dirt Dog LP AGR72 grapple for $1875 are a good package? I'm not opposed to buying used implements as an alternative.

Check on possible sales tax exemption. I do not know Georgia. In Florida all equipment used in ag and forestry work is sale tax exempt.

The Land Pride RCR18 Series Rotary Cutters are available in 60" & 72" widths for light-duty maintenance around the farm or on gentle slopes. A fully welded deck adds additional strength while the floating 3-point permits the deck to hug the terrain for a quality cut.

For sixteen acres of field mowing 72" width would not be wide enough for me.

RCR18 mower will not last ten operating hours in woods work. The first part to fail in woods work will be the tail wheel assembly.

Rather pointedly, Land Pride does not provide the gearbox rating for this Rotary Cutter on its web site. Gearbox rating is a BASIC Rotary Cutter spec.

I have a Land Pride RCF2060: The RCF20 Series features a smooth top for easier cleaning and a floating top link for following ground undulations in grass, weeds, and light brush up to 2" in diameter. The RCF20 is ideal for rural acreage or farm grass maintenance.

2" softwood, occasionally, OK.
2" hardwood, NEVER.

Buy implements appropriate for a Category 2 Three Point Hitch if you are set on an MX or M tractor.

For pasture mowing ONLY that would begin with the RCF2084.

For woods work the RCF2660/2672 would be minimum. No weights shown in the specs. Should be at least 900 pounds.

Hey guys, I know I have worn out my welcome with the going in circles and long posting in this thread. Going to a dealer today who might be looking to bargain, I may decide to pull the trigger if he gets the price right for me. Just curious about this MX5200 vs 5800 thing (previous post). Can anyone provide some insight there?
Are you just TRYING to be offensive? :)

This is SOP around here. Frankly I'm surprised you've honed in so quickly.

Used backhoes from small tractors rarely bring near new prices. You usually need a subframe which is specific to the tractor model. You might luck out though.
But I'm pretty sure unless you are a real skinflint a couple of hours of backhoe use will make you wonder why anyone would give one up. Although $34K does seem sort of steep.

Did you ever contact Barlow's?

Unless the dealer is offering you some really special deal you should give them a call on a weekday.

Yeah looking at those models I'm not sure. I need your size LP or bigger. Would rather have a Bush Hog BH26 from the specs.

Don't know about the grapple either, can anyone recommend a good grapple for the bigger loader on the M?

The MX tractors are excellent. All the MX series have the larger 'Category 2' Three Point Hitch. You can adapt Category 1 implements to a Cat 2 hitch easily with bushings, but that defeats the purpose of having a very strong tractor.

Consider too, Brown Manufacturing products: Rotary Cutters | Brown Manufacturing | 8-633-899

60" model weighs 980 pounds. 72" model weighs 1,205 pounds. Authentically HEAVY DUTY.

If this were a new diesel pickup truck, would you consider it expensive?

I expect your respondents mostly own implements summing in cost at least what their tractor(s) cost.

~~~But acquired over several years, with some implements not 'sticking', being replaced by others.
Not trying to be offensive at all. Felt kinda like a crazy person. This will be the biggest check I've ever written.
I had been looking for months and sort of knew what I needed from reading other threads. Always thought the 5660 was a good tractor for me but too expensive. Dealer has had it for 4 months and wants to sell it pretty bad.
Good to know about backhoes. He would take 32 for that MX he said. Gonna be too much $ after transport and other implements needed for used machine.
Looked closely at Barlows inventory but have failed to make the call. Need to do that.
No the current prices of trucks are high. This would not be expensive. And is much more useful.
I can already tell implements are a hobby unto themselves.
