Opti-2 for 2 cycle.... good or bad

oils was recommended at 40:1 long after the 70s read 90s!! I wasn't even alive in the 70s! Nor am I using 70s era oil. Currently I am using Amsoil Saber at 32:1. Nor am I using it in 70s era saws! My main saws are a stihl MS650 (84cc) and Husky 372xp. Both are professional saws and yes I probably cut more wood than the average guy out there.

I cut more wood than the average guy too. I run ethanol free 89 octane mixed at 40:1 with synthetic oil. I mix 2 gallons at a time and toss in an ounce of Stabil. I run it across the board. Dolmar 421, Shindaiwa 488, Stihl 036, Stihl ms460, lawn boy mower, Husqvarna blower, you get the picture. I have no interest in keeping more than one ratio of mix gas around. Everything seems to like the 40:1 just fine.

I recall 32:1 being the common mix for small tool two-cycle engines for years. New newer ashless products permitted thinning to 40:1 once pistons & rings were made to take advantage of it. Same for 50:1.

But this Opti-2 100:1 for any of them is not something I can buy into yet. Yall go ahead and run it and I'll watch and see how it goes.

I have been using and selling Opti 2 for years, best 2 cycle oil out there. Use with confidence is my advice.

It has been shown that 2-cycle oil mixed at ratios that are excessive only pools at the bottom of the crankcase. With quality oils, to go beyond what is needed in aerated form is just a waste.

if this were the case would I not just have one of the nastiest slobbery exhausts there is or smoke really excessively after idle? neither of which I do. I have heard those with fixed jets have issues like this.

I do however want to see a SLIGHTLY wet exhaust showing me that oil it totally making It all the way through the saw to the exhaust side of the piston skirt where scuffing occurs first.

The quality of oils have come a long way since the 70's. I have been using quality 2-cycle mix at 50:1 since the 80's and have not had a problem. Just remember when you change from a 50:1 mix to a 32:1 mix your fuel to air ratio gets LEANER! The more oil molecules going through the carburetor jets limits the gasoline molecules = LEANER.

you are correct, back out that H jet till you clearly four stroke at WOT out of the cut on a saw and then clean up when you just start in the cut.

do you recommend cutting the packet open and rinsing it, you are bound to leave product in a pack at at 50:1 you are already on the edge of comfortable to me. No its not half an ounce in there or anything but your only putting a few ounces in a gallon already at 50:1

No rinsing necessary, just squeeze packet good from bottom to top and then dispose. just mixed a gallon for my stihl chainsaw and ryobi weed whacker. the weed whacker is 18 years old and the chainsaw is 20 years old. Been using opti for the last 9 years. No worries.

When modified with a dual port muffler or the like, you may even have to fatten up the jet inside the carb.

OPTI is good stuff as already stated, i've run 50:1 for years, the engine typically outlast the rest of the machine in my experience.
