Reccomends me an 8' twin spindle cutter

If your MX5100 is a hydro you'll have 42.5 HP at the pto. That is the bare minimum for a 7 foot single spindle cutter. The bigger that single spindle is the more "leverage" the grass has against your engine. Landpride has 45 hp as the minimum HP for their lightest 7 footer and then 60 HP for the heavier models.

Not concerned at all with the specs for HP.

IMO, they dont mean squat, and are just a general guideline for people with no experience running or sizing equipment. I have a bushhog 306 that specs 40HP minimum. Have probably mowed 700-800 acres and 400-500 hours with that mower behind my small light 29 PTO HP L3400.

A LP 2684 is 1400# and calls for 60HP minimum.....I'd have no reservations at all running that cutter behind a MX5100

I agree with you about the HP ratings. They're just a guideline. I'd run an 8' twin spindle behind my MX 4700 if I could afford one.

Personally I'd rather run an 8' than a 7'. The 8 is not as deep, so that's nice. Seems like it'd make mowing much easier and not shake the tractor as much when it's lifted for going over rough places in the pasture.

My LP 2596 calls for 50 and I have no problem with it.

Agree on price... The shorter twin is nice and other options like chains add. I was shocked how much front and rear chains add when I was seeing what a new one run.

I can confirm its QH compatible with my chepo northern tool cat2 QH.

There are also 7' twin spindle bush cutters (see the SQ84 for one).
Not sure if they are heavy enough, but I would get one of those before I for a single spindle 7' mower.

That is a good looking unit.

Thanks James. It cuts well and provides me counterweight for big grapple lifts.

It's rarely that clean.

Sort of related to LD's search, has anyone ever seen a 6' twin spindle cutter?
