I have a sitrex finish mower sm 180, when replacing the blades, is that a left hand thread? Or a right hand? I donot want to try and turn it the wrong way when I take the nut off. Thanks

OK now listen carefully;

Take a strong toothpick and follow the thread on one of the spindles and then you will know whether its left or right hand thread. you start at the top and the thread gradually goes downward to the right if it is right hand thread and downward to the left if it is left hand thread.

if you have a stash of Playdough or soft candle wax you can mold it around the thread and use a bolt to compare it. Unless its otherwise stated the mower parts and arbor nuts are metric.

When you follow the thread to the end of the stub shaft you will know

Remember that left hand thread means it is tightened that way and loosed by rotating the wrench or socket clockwise
and right hand thread is tightened clockwise and loosened counter clockwise.

BE Very sure to have a big block of wood against the blade and it is pushing against the grass baffle when you loosen it.

Most likely it is right hand thread as you are facing the stub shaft/arbor.

FOR MY OWN SANITY do not put a cheater bar on the breaker bar or wrench!!!!!!!!!!! its a good way to break an arm or have a head wound
you dont really need.

Toothpick is good idea I never thought of. I usually get a hold of the stud with my fingernails and rotate my hand to see which its threaded.

I have a Sitrex SM-150 and replaced the blades on it last year. If memory serves me right, the threads are "normal" as in "righty tighty, lefty loosey".
