I was kinda planning on using their material list to compare, saves me the trouble of figuring everything out and forgetting stuff.

Was mainly wondering how decent their design is, or if it is built on the lighter side.

Looks like my budget will be around 35k so hopefully I can at least get a building with concrete and electric, guess the mezzanine and insulation/hvac will have to wait.

Should come in under budget if you do it all yourself. Even with the interior and HVAC.

My 40x72x14 was under 30k.
Granted, I only concreted, insulated, wired, and finished off the interior in a 40x40 section. But I do have an mezzanine built to 100PSF loading, that is 40' long and sticks out 8'.

My price also includes about $2500 worth of stone for the gravel drive, concrete base, tile around the perimeter, and stone in the 32x40 section that I didn't concrete. And this is stick built too and not post frame.

But I did everything myself. So if you plan on hiring any or all of it done, that adds up

Conrete finishing is the only thing I plan on hiring out, I want the floor to be right and I'm not sure I would be able to do that large a pad how I need it.

Different areas have different cost also, things seem to be going up in price around here lately. I'll be happy if I can st least get a place to work with a good floor and electric.

Should be pretty easy to attain even within your budget. Going back and looking at my spreadsheet, taking off things like gravel for the driveway, tile for the foundation, etc. I was right on $26k.

You are building almost 1000 sq ft smaller. (granted, the concrete and interior finishing will amount 320 sq ft more than mine), but with your budget, I cannot see you having any issues at all. Especially being post-frame

Hey guys, just an FYI. If you are in the Military or are a vet,Lowes will give you 10% off on every purchase.

They don't publicize this but every store I go into honors my ID. This also applies to sale items.

They now only offer the discount to veterans three days per year. :-(

When did they start this? I have been to the local store here at least three times this week and nothing was mentioned about this. I'll have to ask them about this on the next visit.

Thanks for the heads up.

Well over a year. Retired veterans, or those with VA benefits can still get the discount. Here's the published policy:

Military Discount
Lowe's established the 10% Military Discount to support the men and women who are currently serving our country in the Armed Services1 and to honor Retired Veterans and VA Recipients.2 This 10% discount is also extended to the immediate family3 of those who are currently serving, Retired Veterans, or VA Recipients.

To qualify for the Everyday 10% Military Discount, you must:
Be currently serving in, or retired from, a qualifying branch of the Armed Services, or be the immediate family member of someone who is and have a valid military ID Card.
Or:
Be a veteran who receives VA benefits and have a valid Veteran Identification Card (VIC).

We honor all Veterans on three specific holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veterans Day. During these three holiday weekends, we extend the discount to all veterans who served honorably and who present a valid Form DD214 or other proof of service. The Lowe’s Military Discount is extended to the Veteran community on these three holidays only.

The Military Discount must be used on personal purchases only and cannot be used for Lowes.com purchases, previous sales, or the purchase of gift cards or services including product installations. It cannot be combined with the Lowe’s Price Guarantee, or promotions such as "Spend and Get," "New Mover," "Project Starter," "Your Choice," or discounts such as Quote Support Program (QSP) quotes.

1 Armed Services — US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, or the National Guard and who are in active, reserve, or retired status.
2 Retired Veterans and VA Recipients — Veterans who have retired after 20 years of service and/or those who receive VA Benefits
3 Immediate Family — Spouses and/or dependent children (up to 18 years old.)

I still need to go talk to Carter about details on their kit but in the meantime I I've been looking at other options.

Few things I've been looking into is metal trusses, and metals frames. I'm also looking into doing concrete column with brackets to mount the post or doing an actual footer.

Anyone here use metal trusses? Like the idea of the extra headroom for the lift and mezzanine area.

But Menards 11 percent off is a coupon for your next purchase from them. Not 11 percent off your current purchase. Unless you plan on buying more stuff from them fairly soon and don't misplace the coupon it may be a good deal. Their delivery prices and delivery schedules are hard to beat. Been really happy with that part of their operation.

That is why you buy and build the main building only, then go back for the rest of the material to build lean too/offices/etc after getting the 11% merchandise check. If you play it right, that second trip is pretty much free.
