My ancestors were all here before there was a Transcontinental Railroad, ie arrived by 4 month wagon train or one branch walked across the Isthmus of Panama to connect on this side. Another branch via Oregon Trail while California was still Mexico.
They homesteaded, worked in the Gold Rush, lumber, etc. Next generation and subsequent figured out the real profits were in selling newcomers stuff they needed. Land mostly, lumber, hardware, newspapers, education.
Not a single one has left. :thumbsup:
I think you're talking about the kind of people who are dissatisfied wherever they go. We see a lot of them come, go, badmouth that which they never understood.
