Model 1911 pistols ??

Here is my Springfield, Just an old 1911a1 bought for about $300 back in the mid 90's but has some custom work done on it. Back in the day you couldn't buy good ready to compete pistols like you can now. You always had to have them custom made, and of course I did. I shot a few dozen rounds out of this one on the 4th. The wife shot a few dozen more. The Old Springfield has been a good one. A very rugged and durable pistol. I think you will be very happy with your range officer model.

Oh, by the way, I popped of a couple cylinder full's of .44 magnum loads in my Ruger first before firing the .45 and the .45 felt like a ***** cat.:)

If you like 1911 frame pistols, I think you will enjoy the range officer. My father had a range officer in 45 and loved it. I carried 9mm for 15 years then 40 cal for another 6 or 7. I had only fired a 1911 in 45 once before...it was an antique and I didn't like it. The range officer was different. It shot like a dream an I loved the feeling of the recoil. I never liked the way the 40 cal felt when shot it. The next day I went out and bought a springfield XDM 45 full size.... I don't care for the configuration of slide release, etc for the 1911, but that Range Officer shot very well.

Thanks Coobie, actually it is what is called "hard chrome" It is a finish that is made to look like stainless. The gun is a cheap carbon steel gun, or that is how it started out in life. :) There has been some wear up on the slide, but it still look pretty good. I replaced the fiber optic insert today, you can see it in this link if you want.

Dare to be different!

It's not a full 1911, but for full time carry I've found nothing closer...
