What options would YOU invent for a new truck?

Not exactly new idea, but would be great for all the OEM's to either offer or make standard full air ride suspension and trash the spring stuff. Could be just like my semi truck that is all air ride. Leveling valve to keep truck totally level irregardless of load. Would be a simple setup for pickups also. Springs are so last century. I know Dodge has an option in this regard.

And I do have to agree, too much "standard" stuff on many pickups. Problem is, one cannot ala carte options. You want one thing, you have to take a plethora of stuff as a package.

A place to put my sunglasses on my 08 GMC Sierra SLE would have been nice!

Seriously. I would give my eye teeth for a single button on the steering wheel that would give me one swipe of my wipers. This constantly adjusting the mist feature or turning the wipers on and off is annoying especially on the stupid stick. I certainly don't need to adjust the stereo volume on the steering wheel!

I'd also ask for a real steel body. Something where you can throw a chunk of firewood up on the box rail and not do two thousand dollars damage. Or a hood that doesn't get a huge dent from your elbow when you are cleaning the windshield. Yes I know it's all about weight saving, but then don't call them HD!

With more and more gears being added to automatic transmissions, why do you need two gears in the rear end?

It would end the never ending debates about what axle ratio should be used to tow what weights.

I would like - 300 cubic inch straight 6, 4-speed stick shift, manual windows, a suspension designed to haul a load, not ride like a cream puff, manual-lever activated 4WD and at a price not approaching the national debt.
Sounds like you want my 79 f150.
Definitely one heck of a truck

If they don't offer self-leveling air suspensions I would like to see self-leveling headlights. When you load the bed or hook up to a trailer and the rear squats (even just a little) it shoots your headlights up in the air. I would like to have them automatically aim back to where they should be so they don't blind oncoming traffic and keep the light where I need it -- on the road!

GM's have always had this feature but it's not on the steering wheel. You just twist the wiper stalk backwards and it makes 1 swipe of the wipers then springs back to the regular position. But I agree it would be easier to use as a button on the steering wheel.

There also seems to be a lot of wasted space in the center consoles of modern trucks. My 16 GMC has a huge center console thing and there is storage in part of it like the door that opens where the arm rest is but the area under the cup holders is boxed off with no access to it. This area is pretty large too and just wasted.

This was a boneheaded backward move by GM. The 2014/2015 models let you pull the cupholders out and get to that area below them (it's a great place to keep a legally-registered firearm!)

I actually have this option on my Tundra... A little dial left of the steering wheel to adjust the headlights for that exact purpose.

Someone already mentioned the air ride seat... Boy I'd really love one in my F450. Driving that thing is like riding around with square wheels, especially with the load range G tires
