I agree, I have a "mix" I put under each plant as I plant that gives the tomatoes a REALLY good balance, and makes a BIG difference.We don't need anything with the tomatoes we're growing this year. It's a perfect balance between tartness & sweetness and the juice is incredible.

My tomatoes are growing in pure compost... It's about 2 to 3 foot deep where they are planted...We're not sure we've hit on a perfect blend yet, but every other year we till in a yard of high-grade aged compost. The best years seem to be on the second year, between applications. Juice and sweetness are very high.
