Picked up 580 bales yesterday off 9 acres. 5 inches of rain on August does amazing things. Pic is the last trailer load of the day.

Yep. Been that way up here too. Those selling hay will be lucky to recoup the cost of baling it. If we have an easy Winter large round bales will be selling for $20 or less.

Around here $20-$25 per roll is about tops. You may get $30 for a 6x6 of clean grass hay. It has to be a real bad year for it to sale for more.
I sq bale all of mine. 2ed cutting on app 8 ac, 700+ bales. On another farm I bale on, 5 ac, 404 bales and still have 15 ac to cut.
$2.00 per bale in the field, on the ground, is what it sales for.
As for a record, a few years ago, I had a field of alfalfa (1.1 ac), cut 8 times, that yield over 1100 sq bales. 25+ tons per ac.

You too look worn out. :thumbsup: You need to get a hay grapple like I have . It sure is rewarding when its all in the barn or sold. Nice job
Mine is ready to cut, I just need 5 days of sun and it not looking good.

I guess if you have the capacity to "barn" large round bales into the second or third year you might be able to hold out. But wouldn't that require a very LARGE barn??

After loading all those bales, you should be as strong as a bear next week.

Our round bales have about $30 of fertilizer in them but we don't sell any. Good quality round bales go for $60 around here.

We will end up with ~ 3500 bales in the barn this year. Bales will sit in the barn until February when they will sell for around $7.

We sent nearly 2000 big square bales from winnipeg Manitoba down to texas one winter . The trucking was worth more than the hay .

Ok, New personal best. 740 bales on 9 acres. We are finally done with square bales for the year.

I just baled 91 4X5.5 3rd cutting rd bales on 10 acres. That's the most rd bales per acre I've ever baled.

My renter just finished baling a second cutting on my 15 acre grass hay field. Got more bales on the second cutting than he did on the first. Strange year indeed.
