Any reason to NOT get the wider trailer?

When a 14K equipment trailer is 83 inches between fenders, what would be the overall width at the widest point (I'm assuming this would be to the outside edges of the fenders)?

My 14K trailer has 82 1/2" between the fenders. Overall width outside the fenders is 103" including the tire sidewalls which stick out a little past the fenders.

So then really there is no advantage as far as getting through a small gate opening, parking in a narrow space or staying between the lines on a rural road with a low deck compared to a deckover. I'm thinking the axles thread width is the same for both types, or maybe even wider for a low-deck. Could an 8 foot deckover actually be narrower overall than the 83" car hauler type?

Interesting,

Indiana is listed as 8.5 feet plus appurtenances.

Is the 114" wide trailer a boat trailer or some other special case??
Yes, a boat with a 9.5' beam. We have some at our marina I tow that are 11' wide.

I just looked at the PJ trailer site and a 14K deck over tilt bed trailer has a 96" wide deck. Since the tires are under the deck they must be narrower axles than mine which are 103" wide outside sidewall to sidewall.
Unless you look at dual axle dual wheel deck overs then those have 102" wide deck.

My only complaint with my 8.5' wide similar built trailer is the extra distance I have to stretch to tie down a narrow load.

What brand trailer?

A nice aluminum trailer has always been on my wish list and the low profile fenders look like no issues opening doors.

I am to old to do the slide out the window trick.

Just open the door and get out, the fender is only a few inches above the bed. If you have a lead-sled that has been lowered, get the optional removable fenders.
