3R vs 4R

Ok, my dad through in another piece to the puzzle here. If I buy the 4r, he's going to get rid of his raking tractor and let me have any money I get from that sale, towards the new tractor. If this is the case, I can buy the 4r cash and if it's that bad for mowing, I will pick up a dedicated mowing machine in the spring. So it's looking like the 4r is in the future. One question, does anybody know the approx width on one of these with ag tires?

Seat of the pants when I visited the JD dealer a few weeks back felt noticeably wider than the 72" track L3560 & L4060 Kubota's i've been looking at. Think the JD 4 I drove had R4s though.

Yeah, the dealer I have been dealing with has R4's on the ones on the lot. We measured it, 73" outside to outside. They think the width with R1's is around 67".

R1 ags are usually adjustable width. R4s are less likely to be adjustable.
