Deere 5100E/H260/MX15
My dealer is buying my 2014 deere 5055e cab tractor back after lots of issues and months in the shop. They are giving me what I paid for it. My options are stay with deere and get a 5085 or 5100. Both will have the 3rd function, instructor seat and loader. For ease of math they are 60k and 65k respectively. I have had two Deeres and both have been huge problems. Salesman is awesome and the only reason I'm considering them

Option two is a new holland t4.100 or t4.110. The 100 has the sun roof, the 110 doesn't. Both would have the factory 3rd function, wheel weights, deluxe cab, HD rear axle, huge tires and loader. Price for both are about 63k. This feels like a whole different class of tractor due to its size but it isn't as refined as the Deere. These are big tractors if you haven't seen them in person.

Hauling is not a problem and the dealer are across the street from each other about 20 mins away. Msrp on the NH is well in the 80s don't know about the Deere

Really struggling on what to do, I don't feel like a owe Deere anything at this point due to the amount of money they have cost me with their mess ups and all the issues but I really like the salesman.

I understand what you're saying. And any colour tractor has a 'problem tractor' from time to time (as evidenced by several threads, here on TBN). However your dealership sounds like they've done everything they could for your 5055e... to the point that you've said that they're giving you your money back.

Not a lot of dealerships would do that.

Personally, I'd give them another shot as it sounds like they support you.

For comparable hp, we'd be in the or close to the 80k range. Way more than I'm willing to spend for a better 3pt and sun roof. the benefits don't come anywhere close to justifying the cost in my analysis of them. Nice tractor no doubt but still not nearly as big as the NH

That's where the struggle is coming from. If you put the 5100 next to the t4, there's a very noticeable size difference and the features of a M are standard on the NH

You know that old saying, "fool me once, shame on you! "fool me twice, shame on me!" ?

I don't think I could go back for "fool me THREE times....." lol

You mentioned that the Deere was more refined. Did that refinement make the JD a better tractor? Doesn't sound like it to me. The newer E models are suppose to have these problems of the earlier models taken care of, do you really want to find out?

Price out a DEERE equivalent to the New Holland size and features and then decide.

What will be the intended uses of your new tractor? A 5100E is almost double the HP of the 5055E. What is the reasoning behind the NH not being as refined as the JD?

I'd say equivalent Deere would be a smaller 6 series. Deeres loader is very smooth, whole package is cleaner and I liked the layout better.

However, it's smaller and for the money, you can't ignore the sheer size of the NH. It's heavy and would only
need ballast for heavy loader work vs the Deere where you almost always need the box blade or shredder.

I don't want to be a test dummy again

Mainly grapple work and mowing. I'll be able to run a batwing easy. I'm on a 25 acre job of thick pasture and it takes a long time to get thru it with my 7'. 5 hrs and I'm maybe 30% done. The 5055e runs out of balls shredding the thicker stuff and my fuel usage goes through the roof with poor performance. I like to over buy and cry once than by small and cry twice.

The NH had a bunch of bells and whistles but the loader on th Deere was very smooth, the way they have the 3rd function looks very clean and easy to use, and the ergonomics are excellent. The NH was good too but just wasn't the Deere if that makes sense. I like them both a lot.

Don't see much about the NH, that could be good and nobody complains about them or they just aren't a real hot seller and I'll be taking a hit when I trade down the road?

Sorry but two bad ones in a row? I would be switching brands and only going back if they gave me one for free!
