I almost made the honor roll of this thread last year. I was hauling stuff between barns including some pretty wide and rugged harrows and cultivators. Of course I was moving fast; that's what we do. The next day I noticed where I just barely kissed the metal on the side of a nice barn with an implement by maybe 1/4". Wow, any more and I would likely have torn a part of the barn down, at the least since there is zero chance of that implement giving any ground. I take it easier now and am thankful fate intervened on my behalf. Some days you win.

I bet there are hundreds of garages across the country with that same "look" to them. Seven-foot garage doors and ROPs are seldom compatible...that's one big reason why you see so many SCUTS driving around witht he ROPS folded down.

When I bought my first tractor, it's ROPS were a few inches higher than the door when the door was fully retracted. I spent some time adjusting the door and track mechanism and it had just enough adjustment to get to where I could drive under it and not do any damage. The ROPS would barely touch the rubber weather stripping on the bottom of the door. By doing that first, I'm sure I prevented myself from many mistakes I would have made.
My new tractor is much smaller and ROPS up or down really doesn't matter except when mowing under trees. I lop limbs every year now to try to keep the ROPS up all the time so they can perform what they were made for. I can see how they could make me flip though if mowing a new area and hitting a strong limb with them.

And, of course, there is always the old trick of putting gasoline into your tractor's diesel engine tank!
The reason that I have yellow diesel cans and red gas cans now.
Oh, yeah. There is also the trick of putting diesel in your gasoline powered portable generator! But of course no one ever does that.

This involves something a "friend" of mine did and he may or may not have six dogs. Seems he was renting a house with separate garage while his house was being built. Since he's a stickler for not leaving equipment outside, he wanted his Ford 2110 with non-folding ROPS in the garage. It was very close but the solid rollbar would not clear the top of the door by a very small 3/4". Close but no cigar.
Anyway, this deep thinker "friend" of mine decided to drive the tractor right up to the garage, let almost all the air out of the rear tires and then slide under the doorframe with a fraction to spare. Then he would pump the tires up once inside the garage. All was good until one day when preparing to leave the garage he neglected to deflate the tires to go out and managed to bash the inside of the door frame. I think my friend stands alone with that kind of dumb move.

This is a complete tangent but I wanted to commend you for saying "while his house was being built" rather than "while he was building his house." Granted I have Premature Cermudgeon Syndrome but when people say "we built our house" I always think; 'NO, you paid people to build your house!' Just seems like they're taking credit for someone elses hard work?
P. S. I also dislike it when people say "we won" when talking about their favorite sports team...

I know how you feel. Where I exercise in the morning, some people, that never get sweated up anyway, hang around and shoot the bull for an extra hour or so and then tell everyone "I spent two hours at the gym". Uhhh, no you didn't; you were a slacker for 20 minutes and bothered other people for the rest of the time hoping to curry favor through false intent.
Same with "I baked (or cooked) that". No you didn't; it's a pre-cooked production line item (with too much salt) that you warmed and then added a similar sauce from a package that came from 1,500 miles away. You made the dirty dishes but not the rest.
OK; I'll back away from the coffee cup quietly...
