I don't think there are many backhoes out there that have this option. Mine was made by Hardy up in Canada. They have since been bought out by Pronovost. Hardy made front end loaders and backhoes for tractors. Mine is the 8 DL model. Mine is currently set up for three point hitch use, but can be later changed to frame mounted. I know not to abuse it that is not what this thread is about. Just sharing some pics. I had to dig out some rocks from the horses paddocks, we have lots of them in the northeast. It extends two feet. It always seem I set it up in one area to dig up rocks and then find some just out of reach. That is when the extend a hoe comes in handy. IMG_1478806522.354287.jpg IMG_1478806591.314755.jpg

Nice! They are extremely rare, and I have never seen an extendable hoe for a compact. I
know of Hardy's unit, and now, Wallenstein's.

I would like their reach, but I do not know how you would mount a thumb, esp an hyd thumb, to
the dipper. I use my hoe to remove and lift rocks and trees, and often out of my creek or swales.

Hardy offers a thumb but it is not a hyd one. I don't remember how it attaches.

I'm not sure how far down it can dig. But earlier this year I had to dig a deeper hole that was about 7.5 feet deep. I could have gone deeper but didn't have to. I would guess about 10+ feet or so.

Usually small hoes are size rated by their depth ability. Hard to tell by pics but 10' extended looks about right. Thanks.
