That does not sound strange. Today was not bad. The big fire is over 20000 acres and only 30% contained. They may have it around Christmas. It is the national forest. We may get a little rain next week

I know, the other day I noticed it in the valley here, so I got the police scanner out, other people were calling in it and the VFD and Sheriffs were running all over looking for it.
I have a good sized brush pile, I pushed it around some a couple weeks ago, guess it will sit there till spring.
I did manage to dig about 20 or so holes today to plant my wife some pompous grass, auger it a life saver since the ground is a dried up rock, plus the bucket sure came in handy for the water they needed.

What I have found in the short time I have had mine. It a workhorse The PTO I'd a PItA.
Now here is what happen today. Spent about a hour fighting the PTO shaft Woods RC 5 cutter. There are a few parts removed that made it a little easier. The shaft is the pull back push on type.

After getting it back on sheared another shear bolt within 10 minutes.
So I was just dragging it around for weight for the bucket. Got in a tight spot was spinning tire trying to back up , looked back and one of the lynch pins had come out on the cutter.
Walked back up to the truck got tools and a chain. Got the cutter off. Got the tractor turned around in the process spread the yoke on the pto shaft. On the tractor side
Hooked thjue chain up from the back of the cutter over the bucket to the front back over the bucket back to the tail wheel.
Started backing up slowly. Everything was going ok till I had to lift the bucket to clear some stuff. That when the cutter swung backwards and hit the drag link and bent it and broke the tire rod

Man when it rains it pours. I put 10 hours on my cutter and never broke a shear bolt. Then I broke 2 in 10 minutes!

What I found out in trying to find my tierod end. Who ever did the parts manual does not understand that lt or right is as the operator sits in the seat. They list the one I need which is on the left side of the tractor as the rh side
Also partsforlstractors.com ( sundowner tractors) is not an LS dealer just a parts supplier, their warehouse is in New York

I have broke several myself, till I went to a higher grade bolt.
I tool off the triangle reflector and mounted a surplus ammo can as a tool box for pins and tools, saved me a couple trips back to the shed already.

I used Rimgard (beet juice) in my rear tires. Tractor is considerably more stable now. I don't remember the actual costs but I could have had the supplier come to me (big dollars), I could have brought the tires to them to fill or I went and picked it up myself and filled them myself. I used a old sump pump with a short garden hose and had it done in a few hours. It was a pretty simple procedure I learned how to do this from a YouTube video so do a search on there if this is a project you want to try.
Cost was pretty close to windshield washer fluid but the Rimgard has quite a bit more weight so I went with the that. I've only had it a year so I can't comment on its longevity but my research says it it should last a long time with no corrosion.
