Good 3 point snow blower vs front mounted?

Are the land pride 3 point snow blowers any good? I'm looking at model SB1064 for my B2650. It looks like the 3 point blowers are around $1,000 less than the front mounted. I thought the rear mount would be way less.

Dealer quoted me $3,499 for a SB1064 manual chute and $4,500 for a kubota front blower. Are prices any better in the spring/summer time?

Front blowers are $1k more then you add another $1k for mounting brackets lift gear & stuff. All the extra mounting gear & lift hydraulics to more or less replicate your 3pt is the big hidden cost.

Mid PTOs usually run 2100rpm & the opposite direction of the 540rpm standard 3pt PTO. Not a big deal, but the front blowers need a different gearbox or a reduction & reverser gearbox if you want to put a 3pt blower on the front.

I know nothing about their blowers, but LandPride makes solid gear. Generally higher end mid range or lower end industrial range.

You have to think about it this way .Does your neck/back bother you at all,having your neck turned to look back all the time will sure put a kink in your neck. Depends also on how long your driveway etc: is and how long you spend in / on the tractor blowing snow. I only used a rear mount blower for one winter and then I switched to a front mount. It's way nicer looking forward and enjoying yourself blowing snow going forward.

If you get a three point blower, you will need to do something about the stiff neck issue. I first mounted mirrors on the cab and now have installed a rear view camera. Not as good as a front mount blower, but the added $50 I've spent so far hasn't made a dent in the cost difference.

Snowblowers are cheapest in the summer, probably owing to understandably low demand. In autumn they start to ratchet up maybe for inflation or anticipated demand. In winter the prices do not rise much because the availability is often zero. By spring it may still be snowing, backordered machines become available, but prices don't seem to fall. The cycle seems to repeat itself at a slightly more expensive level the following year.
The stiff neck vs. cost is a personal issue. My neck bothers me when using a rear blade or landscape rake because I must sit facing more forward with my right hand on the position (height) control lever and my neck rotated. With the rear mounted snowblower I turn my body on the seat with my right arm over the seatback so my neck is rotated less. Some operate the (hydro) speed control pedal with their left foot, further reducing the twist in their trunk and neck.

Biggest advantage of 3 point blowers is that they work on any tractor with a comparable size 3 point. Front mounts only fit a very select few models.

I personally prefer the rear mount for visibility and also the weight in the rear axle which is designed to carry the load. 99% of farm implements are pulled behind so used to looking over my shoulder.

The last couple of years I have used one of those blowers on the back of B-series with factory cabs and enjoyed it! The deluxe B-series with the loader and blower was great to operate and with the Kubota factory cab with the mirrors it was easy on the neck as I only needed to turn to see where I aimed the snow to go with the hydraulic chute.
The loader made it so I had very little shoveling to do around the entrances and after I had that cleaned the blower blew good distances and left me with little clean up if any. The Land Pride is as good as it gets till you get to the Pro models!

You can always get the rear camera, or mirrors.

Holy smokes, what terrible prices! I only paid $1800 for my rear blower, and it's only slightly narrower than yours. Mine was for the BX25, and I bought wings to make it a little bit wider. In fact, if you have the Aggie tires on your B2650, my blower would be wide enough without any modifications.

Just checked with my local dealer, and his 62 inch Kubota rear blower is only 2450, plus $150 to mount it. And that is Canadian dollars, so you multiply that times about .75.

$150 to mount a three point snow blower. That's pretty funny. I wish people would pay me $150 to mount stuff on their three point hitches. I think I could do pretty well for myself at that rate.

Agree, but does the PTO length require adjustment? And does this unit have a hydraulic chute rotator? Depending on what needs to be done, $150 could be a bargain.

The $150 would include the PTO shaft, and the chute rotator would be manual.

just looked through that video quickly (no sound)...looked like a lot of cleanup of a few inches....didnt see him tackling a 1000' driveway with 2' on it. or a snow drift. Seems like that would be the downside?

That system looks amazing....but its still a rear facing blower, not a front facing pull-behind
