Flashlight

One word of warning. Do not put the batteries in backward in these flashlights and chargers. This will burn out your flashlight.

I will gladly warranty your $5 flashlights for a year. If one fails simply mail me the date of purchase along with $7 cash for handling charges and I will refund your full $5 purchase price. (Don't laugh. This is the same warranty I got with a $5 hose nozzle I bought a few years ago.)

Good one, maybe I should of bought the 6 month extended warranty for only $6.99.......

I received my flashlight, complete with lithium ion rechargeable battery, (18650) chintzy little wall charger for it, and an 3 AAA battery holder if you want to go that way and the carrying case to keep everything in.

I am fairly impressed with it. It is way brighter than the brightest flashlight I had in the house, that I was impressed with before. It has 3 power levels, is focusable from a wide dispersion walking light to a spot light that is mighty brite, and it has the strobe mode, of which I am not really sure what that is good for, maybe to use if a helicopter was trying to find you ? and it has the SOS mode that sends SOS in morse code continuously. Overall, everything worked out of the box and it is one bright little light. Not bad for $12 shipped to the house from Amazon.

You must be closer to China cause I didn't get mine yet, or did you get the one I ordered, I ordered the black one, so if the one you have is black, then it's mine. The tallyho warranty might not cover that...........

Here is a very bright and very well made flashlight for about $70 (depending on options you order): Convoy L6, 38 Lumen Cree XHP7

Here's a thread about it over on CPF: Best flashlight under $100 bucks! Convoy L6 3800 lumen. A MUST HAVE!!

And here's a Youtube video about it: Convoy L6, 38 lumen. Best flashlight under $1 bucks! A MUST HAVE! - YouTube

You need protected and short (i.e.69.5mm) 26650 KeepPower batteries for it; they are available here: 2665 KeepPower 52mAh Protected High Discharge Flat Top - Batteries, Chargers, and PowerPax Carriers

And you can buy the 26650 battery charger when you order the flashlight here: Nitecore D2 Digicharger Li-ion, NiMH/NiCd Charger

And it looks like the Convoy L6 is in the front running for CPF's "2016 Flashlight of the Year" Award: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?426431-Flashlight-of-the-year-2016

There is no doubt that there are better, more expensive flashlights around than the $5 Ultrafires that you can get but the OP was looking for a dependable flashlight that wouldn't break the bank. And I still have not seen a better value for the money than the cheap ones I have mentioned.

After reading posts on TBN for many years I have learned that members love to spend other members money on the absolute best and most expensive model available. For instance if someone writes that they have tree branch in their yard that is too large to fit in their trash can and they need a cheap chainsaw to cut it up and will probably never use the saw again, they get about 100 replies telling them not to waste their money on the cheap one but to get the Stihl SuperMax 8000 for only $2599.

If they write that they have 1/2 acre and need a small tractor to spread dirt in their back yard members try to convince them to buy a 450 HP Kobatudeere for $50995.

I wonder what kind of ring y'all would suggest I buy for my wife for our 50th anniversary if I said I had to take out a loan to buy it?

Local "Dolor General" store has a little plastic led light. 3 aaa cell for $1. That's cheaper that replacement batteries.
If they die or get lost so what.

It is hard to beat the price of free.

I played with my new chinese flashlight some more last night, and I just don't have enough distance to fully utilize the spot beam function of this thing. I have so many trees you cannot see very far around here and this thing lights up the trees really really well. For a Chinese gee-gaw, I am really impressed with it. Thanks Tallyho8 I appreciate the tip.

I ordered one too but I went the free-shipping route which means it must be on the slow boat from China. The shipping notification e-mail I got said it should be delivered in 2-3 weeks but some deliveries may take 4-6 weeks.

Some of those Chinese online storefronts give you the option of "expedited delivery". In some cases that's more than $50 for a 5 or 6 dollar item.
