Listening to SEC fans cheer for each other is just sickening. Beyond Bama the SEC is average at best with even lowly Middle Tennessee beating mighty Missouri and numerous other recent upsets form mid majors and FCS schools. I love watching a school with a 30 million $ AD beat up a schools with 80+ million $ AD's and all thier fancy facilities and high paid coaches. NDSU does it every year it seems.

Beyond Bama this year, perhaps the SEC is average at best, however, in the past, that was not always the case.

I find it very respectful and admirable when fans are cheering their teams conference opponent on because their own team isn't playing.

I always cheer for fellow big ten teams in out of conference and bowls. Even Michigan. And being from Ohio, and an osu fan, that says alot.

If the conference as a whole makes a good showing, it makes the whole conference, including my buckeyes, look good.

I've had to endure the last 8-10 years of listening to the talk show hosts and sports writers bash OSU because they play in a weak conference, "anybody can look good playing a schedule like that" etc.

I want the big ten as a whole to look good. When the big ten gets its respect back, that is a huge help for ALL the teams in it

As the Indians used to say"you are only as strong as your foes".

I agree... I'll be rooting for tOSU. Assuming they beat 'Bama, one could argue that UofM and PSU could also likely have beaten 'Bama.

Lets face it, it's all about money and TV rights.

My alma mater wasn't even a part of the "Big Ten" when I graduated LMAO

What, the big ten has 14 schools?

At the end of the day, most football programs bring in the majority of the money for the school. Then look at how college football players can be treated (for better or worse).

I personally find it comical that a 6 and 6 team can make a bowl. Why? More money of course.

That said, I would be lying if I didn't say it's nice that the Big ten is getting some respect back and it's not the laughing stock of college football:D

LOL. Between ESPN slobbering all over the SEC the last decade and the fans of the 10 schools who do nothing in football cheering for Bama it's gotten quite old. Missouri fans chanting SEC are the best as they are one of those schools who never wins anything so they live vicariously through Alabama and Kentucky. If that's how you roll so be it but you will never find me as an OU fan rooting for a Texas to win anything, well maybe if they were playing Notre Dame.

Many folks from OU have 2 favorite teams, OU and whoever is playing Texas. You won't' find them chanting "Big 12" because Texas won something, but the SEC fans sure do cheer when Bama wins. LAffin.

I hope that Missouri football fans aren't living vicariously through Kentucky Football!

I do generally root for SEC teams, because the SEC is "my" conference. I think it has been the dominant conference for the last decade, but I believe that the Big Ten has that crown, at least this year.

Like everything else, it does all come back to money. Which teams are going to sell the most tickets and get the most TV audience is a large part of consideration, when the records are "good enough". I do have some heartburn with Ohio State being in the playoff instead of the conference champ. But, that is the system that we have now, and it is better than what we used to have.

I still contend that the system is inherently unfair to teams like Western Michigan. Since schedules are made sometimes years in advance, and big schools often don't want to schedule a mid-major, it's tough to get a high strength of schedule. A 16 team playoff with all conference champs getting automatic bids paves the way for any disputes to get settled on the field. Win your conference, you're guaranteed a spot in the tournament. You may be a 15 seed and have to go play in the horseshoe, but at least you get your shot. And I will concede, as well, that most of the time, a Western Michigan isn't going to beat any of the top four. However, you don't have to be the best team in the nation, you just have to be the best team in the stadium on gameday.

I hope that someday we see a more inclusive playoff system, and the 5-7 and 6-6 teams can still go play in the Harbor Freight Tools Broken Clamp Castings Import Bowl, and hoist the trophy made of dull drill bits, funny smelling wheel barrow tires and get a lifetime supply of LED flashlights and 20% off coupons.

Good luck and take care.

Kentucky Basketball.

16 team playoff would be interesting and much more like the basketball tournament with conference champs getting the auto bid. It would certainly give every team a path to a championship which is not the case right now with over half the schools in the country not having a path to a championship due to SOS issues. It would also get all the fans involved, not just those from P-5 conferences. But then the P-5 would have to share the $ which isn't going to happen. The difference is the NCAA runs the BB tournament and is not involved with the football post season.

Realistically we need a playoff for the p-5 and another for the g-5. The vast majority of the g-5 are closer to FCS than they are to p-5 schools from a $ standpoint. It's really interesting looking at which schools make the most $ from sports and which require subsidy to operate. It's far from a level playing field.
