2016 College Football Season and Playoff

I hope that Missouri football fans aren't living vicariously through Kentucky Football!

I do generally root for SEC teams, because the SEC is "my" conference. I think it has been the dominant conference for the last decade, but I believe that the Big Ten has that crown, at least this year.

Like everything else, it does all come back to money. Which teams are going to sell the most tickets and get the most TV audience is a large part of consideration, when the records are "good enough". I do have some heartburn with Ohio State being in the playoff instead of the conference champ. But, that is the system that we have now, and it is better than what we used to have.

Ironic you say all of that. The 4-team playoff is certainly better than the BCS. Just imagine, Big Ten by far the toughest conference this year, with 4 teams in the top 8
(and the other 4 teams being the rest of the power 5 champs). And if this were the BCS era, there wouldnt be a big ten team playing for the title.

IF we at least had an 8-team playoff, ALL of the power 5 conferences would at least be represented. Sure, 4 would be big 10, but at least all the conference champs would have been in. OSU and MICH at large. Then for #8, currently wisc......I wouldnt argue with the highest ranked group of 5 in their place though, but that would be taking #15 over #8.

With a tough conference such as Big 10 this year, with a possible 3-4 teams in a 8-team playoff, would want to mix things up a little so you arent re-matching conference opponents.

Something like
#1 Bama vs ##8 Wisconsin
#2 Clemson vs #6 Michigan
#3 OSU vs #7 Oklahoma
#4 Washington vs #5 Penn state

Lets face it, it's all about money and TV rights.

My alma mater wasn't even a part of the "Big Ten" when I graduated LMAO

What, the big ten has 14 schools?

At the end of the day, most football programs bring in the majority of the money for the school. Then look at how college football players can be treated (for better or worse).

I personally find it comical that a 6 and 6 team can make a bowl. Why? More money of course.

That said, I would be lying if I didn't say it's nice that the Big ten is getting some respect back and it's not the laughing stock of college football:D

A few years ago the Big 10 had 12 teams and the Big 12 conference had 10 teams. Go figure.

This year it looks like there will be 40 college bowl games. I will probably watch zero of them.

LOL. Between ESPN slobbering all over the SEC the last decade and the fans of the 10 schools who do nothing in football cheering for Bama it's gotten quite old. Missouri fans chanting SEC are the best as they are one of those schools who never wins anything so they live vicariously through Alabama and Kentucky. If that's how you roll so be it but you will never find me as an OU fan rooting for a Texas to win anything, well maybe if they were playing Notre Dame.

Many folks from OU have 2 favorite teams, OU and whoever is playing Texas. You won't' find them chanting "Big 12" because Texas won something, but the SEC fans sure do cheer when Bama wins. LAffin.

Well, From what I can tell,You don't know many SEC fans. Most AU fans would love to see anyone beat Bama . Most can't stand Saban. They say he's a smart A... Well, he may be,but he sure knows how to win ball games. I really hope there is some competition at bowl time.
To be the man, you have to beat the man. Right now, Saban is the man.

The Big 10 actually had 11 from 1990 to 2010. Who would have thought that Nebraska and Rutgers would be in the Big 10 some day. Crazy.

LOL. SEC fans are famous for this behavior and the whole country knows it. You can pretend otherwise but there is plenty of documentation to confirm this.

Here is a good example of SEC fanboy stupidity.

As the Indians used to say"you are only as strong as your foes".

I remember them saying that right after game 7 vs the Cubs.......

I can tell you, there are SEC fans that hate other SEC teams. My wife is an AU grad, and would love to see Bama be beaten by anyone

Funny, those links are to a sec football player, and the other is of a group of students
Don't know why that should bother you, unless you are just butt hurt that Bama (an SEC team) holds the title ,and your school / team doesn't. To be the man, you have to beat the man
As I have said. I really don't keep up with it that much. I have other things to do. I do know some that live for football and nothing else.I can live with it or without it myself. Win or lose, it won't effect me personally at all

Are talking about cheering for the SEC in general , and not individual teams within the SEC ? If that's the case, misunderstood your comment. I can tell you, there are SEC fans that hate other SEC teams. My wife is an AU grad, and would love to see Bama be beaten by anyone

She'll get her wish when Washington beats them.......GO DAWGS!!!!

I have no doubt there are SEC fans who dislike the other teams. I"m in the same boat when it comes to other teams then OU or OSU in the Big 12, I'd rather Baylor lose every game. I follow college football closely and enjoy watching the Finebaum show. I am certainly not butthurt over Vanderbilt fans chanting "SEC SEC SEC" after winning a baseball tournament so I have no idea where you came up with that. I just dont' quite understand the SEC fanboy behavior when it comes to rooting for the other teams in the conference. No other conference has fans who chant thier conference like the SEC fans do. Just one of the many ways SEC fans are "Special". You won't hear Nebraska fans chanting B1G after beating Tennessee either but if Tennessee wins you can bet that they will be chanting SEC. Funny stuff. Kinda like repeating rick flair quotes over and over. Thanks for the entertainment and keep up the fine work.
