I'd respectfully argue that the money is much bigger now then compared to the 70's and 80's.

Perhaps I got my attitude when the guy from New England took over at PSU and the jumped ship to the Texans.

That said, I do think Chip Kelly (sp?) is a prime example of the differences between coaching college and coaching "professionals".

In the old days there was not much difference in being worshipped in Ohio or Michigan, there was little reason to change schools. I do not blame a guy for taking a job with a million dollar raise. The semi pro world of college football is far from a game played for school spirit

At the end of the day, college football is more about money than anything else. As I tell my boys, you're life shouldn't suck that bad where your happiness or sorrow is based upon what a sports team is doing that has no affect on your life whatsoever
.

I often say after any team I root for loses... it ruins my life for an entire 5 minutes. Then it is back to reality and life is ok : )

Ultimately, all three (PSU, Michigan and OSU) belong in the "playoff" IMO.

Hard to argue that the champion of the conference isn't going to the playoffs when two other teams who didn't win the conference are.

This is a hard one. I think these are all three great teams. Urban said "our opponent up north" was the toughest team we have played in 5 years. Think about that statement and who they have played in the past 5 years. I think and I can't believe I'm saying this. The team up North is better than PSU or Washington. I'm not even sure they are not better than OSU... That game was so close... it literally was a game of inches.

I'm glad OSU got in .. I think they got in based on more than this year's record though. I think they got in from their past 3 years. I'll say this.. if JTB shows up and plays well OSU will run the table. If he shows up and plays average as he has in a few games this year, they won't get past Clemson.

However, the same can be said of Clemson, if they try turning the ball over 4 times against OSU.. 2 of those will be pick sixes... They won't win that way.

Unfortunately not that simple.
Osu had the toughest schedule, Better quality wins, more points against opponents.
Underdogs rise to the occasion to attempt to beat better rivals. Which is another argument for Osu.

Agree.. "Any given Sunday"... any team can beat any team.. which is the reason you have to look at the entire body of work.

Example: I know this was basketball but it still illustrates the point.. OSU Beat KY last year.. was OSU better than KY? Not even close.

Patriots, Cowboys and maybe a couple others.

Saban has built one heck of a machine up there.

Yes, but about 90% of the country will be rooting for one. We love the underdog.

like I said, I'm not one to sit every weekend just to watch football. Got too much to do. I have watched several bama games though, and the defense seems to be pretty solid. I really don't think they went undefeated all yr on luck. We should be getting down to the best of the best, so we'll find out if it was luck ,or not

Though I am a Florida fan - that effort the Gators out up against Alabama in the SEC game was about what I expected. The Gators, even if they had won, do not deserve to be in the playoffs - and, since they lost - they won't be.

That said, since I am SEC - even though it may feel odd
