Buying and selling guns ?

Just make out a bill of sale with serial # and drivers license # date and sign with two copies.

Why 2 copies you ask? Cause if I was the buyer I would want proof that YOU sold it to me and it was not stolen.

Yes, for sure I would make two copies and probably have a picture of the gun and the gun serial on both copies. I guess it isn't like the old days when we went to the "coon chase" in Kenton Ohio as a kid. Dad would take guns in there trade them, sell them and buy them and no paper in sight.

Had a guy at work do that and a gun he sold at a gun show in Berea and was used in a crime. He was interviewed and swore he sold it at the show. Nothing happened after that but he will no longer sell a gun. I will trade it at a store but have never sold one.

In NY state anyway.As stated you have to go through a FFL;the problem with that is NO DEALERS that I know
will do it because of the time and paper-work involved;and they have to keep permanent records.I am talking private sale to private sale.

That's what I had to do last year selling to a private individual. We went through Gander Mountain to do the transfer paperwork.

Yep, well reading all of this has me rethinking it also. I'm actually thinking of keeping it and just buying another. Can't have too many pistols around (That statement makes the gunphobes cringe I'm sure : ) ). They are almost like an investment anyways.

Not many if any lose value. But I have two safes to fill so all is good. PS do not store ammo with your pistolas. Buy a ammo safe.

There are legal ways to do this, varies by state, but as you said, you can never have too many guns.

Check with your local sporting goods store about rules for selling guns.

Agreed. Still own every gun I've ever bought ... and not done yet. Got a new safe with more space just begging to be filled.

In NY they ARE the gun dealers, have all the paperwork, and do the calls for background checks ever since the laws here changed. We are also fighting with the state because as of 2018 they changed another law that makes our lifetime concealed carry permit a 5 year renewable permit. I'm sure there will be a fee for that too where there was none before.
