No. I am not related to the Brazos gun company. They are further down river. Make nice stuff though.

I have zero noise issue or exhaust smells with my 2501. Not even something I have remotely noticed or given any thought about. Not saying ProjectKing did not have an issue with his tractor but I don't.

Thank you for serving our country! Sounds like you have an exciting job!

The L3301 and the L2501 are very similar. The L3301 is assembled in USA. L2501 is made in Japan. The L3301 of course has a bunch of emissions gadgetry. And at first that was a big turn off to me. However after having the L2501 I could not stand the noise level. Installing a new muffler may have fixed it but I didn't want to mess around with it even though I could have done it fairly easy.

The noise level is a bigger issue with HST tractors. They have to run around 1700 to 2000 rpm when working. The L2501 exhaust produced a very sharp or harsh sound that just really ticked me off. I have a L3830 as well. It is not near as loud and has a smooth exhaust sound. Interesting it and the L2501 share the same manifold. But the L3830 muffler would require modifications to fit under the L2501 hood.

I have not measure dB level on the L3301 yet but it's quieter than my L3830 by a lot.

The other issue I had with the L2501 was the exhaust smell. It was like an old Ford power stroke Diesel. Very oily smelling exhaust. Never smelled another Kubota engine like it. Made me sick within a few minutes. Honestly I hated the tractor! Hah!

I have well over 1300 hours running Kubota machinery. TLB's, skid steers, excavators, tractors, etc. So I maybe more picky than others. I love my L3830. And my ZD is a fantastic machine as well. Zero complaints. I'll never sell the L3830. So far in the .5 hours I have run it I really like the L3301. But it too early for me to recommend it. I'm very impressed with the front loader which was on my L2501. Also the HST seems nice and is not very loud... for HST!

Do you think it was your particular 2501 that had excessive noise and an odd exhaust smell, or do you think all of them are like that?

Brazos Customs make excellent pistols.

I'm hoping to buy a 2501 in the next few weeks. If/when I do, I'll post some pics up.

How do you like your new L3301? Is it much quieter than the 2501? Other than engine, they're the same tractors, right?

The L2501 is actually the previous generation L3200 with a different engine. It doesn't have the emissions controls, upgraded dashboard, or revised controls the L3301/L3901/L4701 got in their 2014 Tier IV refresh. If you compare the 2501 and 3301/etc side by side, these little subtleties will be obvious. They are very minor things however.

This is very interesting. I think there was something wrong with my tractor. Dealer said they are all loud but I think mine was possibly louder than normal.

Just make sure you drive the 2501 first at the dealer... run it up to operating RPM of 1800 rpm and drive around. Make sure you like it. I know you wear earplugs but with tractors there's frequently times when you just hop on them to move etc when you won't have PPE on.

Will definitely drive it around the lot and run it up to operating RPM.

I don't wear ear plugs with my 2501 and it has never been something I considered. Sure there is a diesel motor running but the noise isn't objectionable or something I even think about. Right around 1500 rpm it has a rattle sound every time. Only at around the 1500 rpm point. Slightly lower or higher it doesn't exist. When I hear the rattle type noise I just hit the throttle slightly and it's gone.

Is your tractor HST or gear? The L2501 I had made you want ear plugs real quick!
