They did have a TSB and extended the warranty (not a recall) on the AIP system (air induction pump). This was an emissions device that pumped fresh air into the cats upon startup. Apparently the supplied pump was prone to moisture penetration and the pump would seize, causing a limp mode situation. I want to say they extended it to 10yrs/150k mile warranty.

You're right that there weren't many long bed trucks made. Toyota has a different building strategy than the domestics. They build "to demand" instead of projected sales volumes. This leads to less inventory availability, but keeps them from having to offer huge rebates due to lagging inventory. There are a couple available on eBay right now (long bed extended cab) and I've seen a few driving around locally.

Hardly. More like Bama and a bunch of average teams.

aTm hasn't won a conference title since the 90's, every road is tough for them.

Well since you brought it up neither has Nebraska. Neither of which has to do with this thread.

I'm pretty sure that when Eddie is referring to a long bed he means an 8' bed and I do not think Toyota builds a true Crew Cab with 8' bed. They did make an Access Cab (extended cab) with a 6.5' bed. Their Crew Cab has the short 5.5' bed.

I'm so "outdated". I'd never consider a 2.7L engine in a truck.....

Me too, ,,,, I thought it was a misprint......and still can't believe it.....wouldn't want one either.

That was the previous generations, prior to 2007. With the newer generations (2007+) they make an 8ft bed with a regular cab and extended cab (called a double Cab) configuration. They do not offer an 8ft bed on a "crew max" cab configuration.

Yes, a long bed is 8 feet long. The extra cab has doors and a bench seat that is great for storing tool boxes, but not so much for people.

That's not accurate. The extended cab (Double Cab) in the Tundra is bigger than the domestics "extended cab" options, and is nearly as big as the domestics "crew cab" options. Tundra's CrewMax is larger than the domestics crew cab offerings, matched only by Dodge's MegaCab

LOL. I love the trash talk but I'm not a Husker fan.

I just love giving Azz To Mouth fans a hard time about being SEC fanboys. Maybe someday you will be relevant beyond Johnny Football.

As to cab size, I love my mega. My brother has a toyota and they commented on how nice it was to be able to use the front center seat when the baby seat in the the back. It's really nice to have that extra space inside the truck.

I would look hard at the Nissan Titan. I had a 08 that was bullet proof and the toughest 1/2 ton truck I have has and as tough as my 3/4 ton gasser.

Haha, I'm old school and a 8' bed is a standard bed, everything less is a short bed.

I cuss the 5.5' bed on our F150 crew cab every time I use it. My other pet peeve is the bed tie-downs are mounted low in the bed. So if you load something and then decide you need to tie it down, you can't get to the tie downs.

With my next truck, I'm going back to 3/4 ton GM's with a standard bed (8' long!!).

Fanboy? My team is in the ACC I don't particularly like the fact that year after year the road to the National Championship runs through the SEC.

Timing chain stretch ... interesting. Tell me more. My '09 V10 has a tick or slap at idle however with a few RPM's it goes away. A couple of mechanics have assured me the noise is coming from the top end of the engine and not the bottom. Lucas oil stabilizer made it much quieter on last oil change.

There are two very long chains on the timing chain in the 11-16 3.5L. In 2012, Ford had already come up with a retrofit kit that used wider, stronger chains, and beefier cam followers. 2012 production models came with the beefier timing chains. The issue of the high pressure fuel pump seal failing couldn't be addressed without a redesign of the engine. The 2.7L apparently doesn't have that problem as well as the new 3.5L design in the 2017s from what I've heard.

Worn cam??

I agree. With pricing on a diesel Nissan below a ecoboost Ford that sounds like an option to at least consider.

I have had very good luck with Fords, have had at least ten pick ups, diesel and gas. I now have a new Taurus SHO AWD and love it..

Sounds lovely. I just couldn't find one with an 8 foot bed and that really nice extra cab. Maybe you live in an area with a greater demand for it then I do. For me, that was a deal breaker.

Cam chain tensioner and the chain sliders wear usually before the chain. Ford cam tensioners up to 04 I believe were all cast metal body and steel shaft. Later years are plastic with steel shaft. Some Ford guys say the late model tensioners are the culprit to some of the aforementioned issues. Alot of times injector tick in the Ford at idle will be more than a little noticeable when they start getting a little dirty and the PCM will try to compensate changing the duty cycle on a
bank or a particular cylinder depending on the year model making the injectors or injector pulse change and make a loud tick at idle then go away as pulse width changes and duty cycle raises..

I understand. Anymore, I search the country to find the vehicle (or whatever item) that I want. My last two HD Ford trucks came from Colorado and Texas. My Tundra was in Ohio. My last two tractors were Wisconsin and Virginia. Not worth settling... Work harder to find the truck or item u really want and have it brought to you, or go get it (the way I see it anyhow)

We just got back from a hunting trip to Paris, Tx. My buddy wanted to take his newer tundra with the 5.7 since it has so much leg room. Well the ride was tolerable but the fuel mileage was horrible. Turned one of the guys off wanting one for that reason. I'm thinking it was around 10-12 highway. We were stopping twice a day for fuel and it's a 4.5-5 hr drive. He said the tank was small that was ridiculous. Lindsay's truck gets atleast 540-560 per tank
