Stuck Inside

The coldest that I've seen here (kansas city area) was -26 back in the 80's one time. That cold air would freeze in the carburetor of my Dodge pickup (slant 6). It was at night, getting off work, that it would start fine..........but then die right after I stepped on the gas. As soon as the weather warmed up, it ran fine again. I had to walk to a service station and was so cold that I was shaking for quite awhile.

I'll bet the shelters are packed with people today, since it is only zero right now...........fortunately the wind is nearly calm.

Currently -10 F. Last night where I'm at in Minnesota, it was colder than anywhere in Canada or the arctic circle. South of me in Leader MN, they hit -40 F.

Dave......hope your BX ride is fun. Me, ......think I'll wait a couple days. There wasn't all that much snow to deal with. Maybe just get the shovel out for the patios....cabin fever is setting in though.

Yes, inside. I wake up and put a pot of water on a burner to increase humidity.

I hadn't thought about the humidity until I saw this. So my gauge shows 20% and 73 degree temperature on the fireplace mantle (fireplace not being used). We have a humidifier, but it hasn't been used since last winter; may have to plug it in and put some water in it.

Ideal is at least 40% but when I have a fire going it does get into the 20s. I put 2 kettles of water on the wood burner.

Man that's cold, 13° right now with a little sun shining through. I'm not sure what the humidity is in the house probably low.

It's zero here right now... That's 0 degrees. Watched two football games today and shoveled some snow....not enough to fire up the Kubota...and the rest should melt in a couple days.

Having attended school in St Paul, I've seen -30 while playing hockey outdoors. The game keeps one warm, but the sweat freezes as it runs down the back of your neck on to your jacket and frost/ice forms all over your stocking cap. ... and boy was that puck "HARD"!!

It's -4 here right now but will warm into the lower 40's over the next few days.
