Ford F150-I'm Done.

End of the day Ford did not need a dime while GM needed bailed out. Chrysler needed a short term loan until Fiat bought them out.

What kills me is GM didn't change. It was all a political smoke screen. It was not about jobs, it was about votes. The media just feed information to sway the public just as they did in this last election. If you belive them Hillary should have won 3 to 1.

Sheepish ways.....

My wife just rolls her eyes at me. Every time a GM truck ad comes on TV I change the channel. Insults my intelligence. I question whether any of the "real people, not actors" have ever owned a truck?? :)

I agree. It beats them to the gas station and then to the mechanic shop. If I do decide to get another Ford I'm getting the heated bumper option. Makes it easier to push it while keeping my hands warm.

Goose have you not learned anything yet? Besides the Original Post and maybe your 4 other posts in this entire thread the rest of it is pretty much 34 pages (and counting)of dribble and bickering excuse makers for Ford.

I learned long ago that if John Deere is criticized on a big tractor AG forum or if Ford is criticized pretty much anywhere then the excuse makers always present themselves. (Luckily Tractorbynet is not as bad with the forum backlash with criticizing Deere as TBN is mostly compact tractor based) but it is still there somewhat.

Good luck on your next truck whatever the brand choice ends up being. I have test-driven several brands over the past 6 months: Sat in a Chevy 1500 and did not even drive it as it does not fit me headroom department. Sat in a chevy 2500 and did not drive it either as again it did not fit me again with headroom wise. F150 with 5.0 (liked it), Ram 1500 with 5.7 (loved it), 2017 F250 with 6.2 (hated the truck handling and ride which was horrible but liked the powertrain rather well), Nissan Titan XD with (borderline headroom for a 6'5" guy but still had to scrunch down sometimes to see out the windshiled, rode nice and handled nice but the engine is pretty gutless until it gets above above 3200 rpms then it pulls strong. Several instances of total accelerator dead pedal on my brief test drive which I did not like at all). Ram 2500 with 6.4 (like it real well except for how tall it sits in the air and that is really my only complaint with it).

Overall I am glad I did not buy either 1/2 ton truck that I liked (I came real close to buying on the Ram 1500 and would have if the dealership would have simply honored their advertised price on it). I have since added a dump trailer tool/toy and a heavier truck would be a better fit for that. Still trying to justify all that cash they want for any of the new ones though but it looks like if I make a purchase it will be for my first ever Ram and also my first ever 3/4 ton.

I've owned Chev's AND Fords, and I like them BOTH. Never owned a Dodge, so I'm not at all qualified to comment on them.

I currently have two 2007 Fords ( an F150 and MK LT) and have had no major issues with either. No intention of putting out the big bucks for anything new so I'll probably just these into the ground. Lol

Actually, GM used the money to rush their move to China. Ten years ago when I saw the GM CEO bragging to a Chinese audience about shifting all their parts manufacturing to China, he'd said they would be shipping whole cars out of China in 2020 and have beaten that estimate by 3 years.

I am still a fan of the GM 6.0 liter engine. Yeah it is long in the tooth and down a little on hp and torque but combined with a better tranny and better tranny computer programming than most of the competition the overall truck package equals (and sometimes even outperforms) many competitors that are supposedly superior with the on paper specs.

If I had limited funds and had to use a high mileage low cost truck to make my living the GM 6.0 would easily be that choice for me. I would just have to make sure it was 2014 or older so I fit in the darned thing.

Longterm durability is not really an issue for those that trade their truck in every 2 years but I have two trucks at the moment. One is 25 years old and the other is 14 years old. Durability is important if you plan to keep em longterm like I usually do. I worry that all these new totally boxed frames that all the manufacturers are going to will rust from the inside out in the salt belts.

No regrets with my purchase of my 2016 Ram 2500.Little thirsty on fuel with the 6.4 hemi 3.73 gears but knew that before I bought it..I also liked my 2011 ford F250 with the 6.2 gas motor.

We have a bunch of these at work. They are dead reliable Powetrain wise.

Out of 25 or more in 3 years we had 3 develop tranny issues of which 2 were stuck in reverse. All in all as you said they are tough to beat because of the powetrain.

All of ours are 3500 4x4 SRW. We don't buy any 3/4 tons

I will go 4.10 gears if I make this move. No penalty at all as far as mpg go on most of the Ram forums and fuelly.com - and in many cases the 4.10 surprisingly gets better mpg than the 3.73 ratio does. My opinion is the tranny Ram uses is ideally more suited for the Cummins diesel ratio wise and the 4.10 somewhat helps compensate for the less than ideal ratios with the gasser although it still is not as perfect as it could be. The nearly 3500 lbs more you gain in towing capacity with the 4.10 will be helpful for me as well when I fully load my dump trailer.

The 6.4 is now a bargain option for 2017 (only $500). 2014 thru 2016 it was like $1450 for the 6.4 liter gasser. Hard for me to say I am considering buying a Ram as I am old enough to remember the POS Dodge trucks spit out in the 1970's and 1980's. Worst driving must gutless trucks I ever was around. Wondered all over the road even when new (crowned backroads were always an adventure to maintain your lane). I got the opportunity to drive many Dodges back then- luckily none were mine.

I was debating trying to hold out another year as the Ram was going to be a fresh redesign for 2018 but FCA has since put the new platform on hold indefinitely to supposedly save cash....so current truck will continue a few more years. New crash safety NCAP regulations are in the works for all automobile manufacturers tentatively slated for 2019 or 2020 so I believe that is when you will see the new Ram platform as current one will not meet the new regs as it is only a marginal performer safety wise now under current regs. That also may be more of the reason the new 2018 platform was put on hold to fix it so it meets the coming 2019/2020 regs.

^^^Amazing we are talking about what's coming in 2020 when is seems only yesterday we celebrated the dawning of a new century...

Seems the years speed up as we age... at least for me.

I guess those flying cars are still a pipe dream but self driving is on the cusp...
