I'd call a regional rep and plead your case.
Sounds like a mfg/defect issue. I would think NH would want to work WITH you to find out just what part of their CVT failed.

Thank you for your responses LD1.

If I may ask, how do I get the contact info for a regional rep? Outside of contacting the dealer where it`s at, because to be honest " I lost trust in them!"
I don`t want to break the rules of the site and make a "Rant" so not going further into that Issue.

This is what surprises me considering the Transmission`s were from the same supplier? ser#37

Congrats on the new purchase! I have almost 740 hours on my 8N. It has been a pleasure to own so far. I have had it updated on the EST at the shop twice, both have warranted improvment. I own SN: 00037

I guess he just got lucky... wish he would respond to this thread.

I wish others would chime in as well, cause I honestly know little about the new 8n, or how it's CVT works. And have never had to talk to a regional rep, of any mfg, bit know many members on here have had to from time to time

Mine was built in 09, serial number 0718. I have not heard of that issue with the clutch plates. As I understand it the Boomer 8N and the original Shibaura built 3000 (3040, 3045, 3050) series all used the first generation CVT. After NH quit using Shibaura to build the Boomers the 3000 series was built by New Holland with a second generation CVT built in Mexico. Currently there is a Boomer Deluxe EasyDrive series built by NH that uses the second gen CVT probably still built in Mexico. None of the LS built Boomers have a CVT transmission, only HST or gears.

Randy,

Thanks for that bit of info so these 8N`s have the 1st gen CVT as do many other`s until the engine change. I wonder what changes were made to the 2nd gen CVT?
there is absolutely zero info worthwhile on the web which I find very hard to believe.

Here in lies the rub of where I`m at with my 8N at this point, the dealer and NH through all of the assists placed over the course of 2 wks to check this check that
NH comes back with split the trans and "inspect" clutch. So they are only assuming the clutch might hold the answer to the tractor`s woes but the cost factor is placed on
me in doing so regardless the outcome.

I`m just surprised at the lack of experience coming from NH on this matter considering they have all the info from many other dealers stored on their system`s for these so called "assists" at least that`s how the dealer explained it to me to help them troubleshoot in the field and feedback for their Engineering/Design departments.

I'm glad you bought it for "short money". At least that will help a bit with the repair cost.

Good luck.

I'm quite happy with my Boomer 8N. I really like the design, and the retro styling. I haven't had any problems with mine, but I am a limited use guy; having only 1 acre. I bought mine over three years ago with 11 hours on it and it now has just over 100.

I can't agree more with the instruction to set the hand throttle at higher RPM and use the foot pedal only for movement, kind of like operating a hydrostat.

A little background: I am a one truck, transport company who hauls farm equipment throughout the Central Valley of California, mainly for local New Holland dealers.

It is true that each dealership has a corporate sales rep as well as a service rep employed by New Holland. You might be able to send an email to CNH corporate asking for the service rep's contact info.

I am just checking in and stumbled onto this thread that I started almost 5 years ago. I am surprised it is still close to the top. I have owned my Boomer 8N for 5 years now and have never had an issue with anything. Other than changing oil I haven't touched it with a wrench. I think it is a pretty reliable well built tractor especially for the money.

Dave CR, How did you come out with your transmission problem?

How many hours do you have on it? What do you use it for?
