You must not be familiar with Dizzy Dean.

And simply stating the capability of a machine is not "rubbing it in someone's face" like you claim. There is always going to be someone with a bigger machine, no sense in being sensitive and butthurt about it each time someone has something bigger than yours. Don't be insecure LOL.

I am not familiar with Dizzy Dean.
The part about being sensitive or hurt would not apply to me. I am neither. Nor, am I insecure.
I apologize for making you become defensive. I was merely disagreeing with the use of the term as I understand it.
I take it, it was meant to be funny.

I never said it did apply to you. The fact that you took it personally speaks volumes. Try to hide it better next time. LAffin.

Why on earth has this forum not devised a "Like button" so we don't have to go all the way into a post to agree with someone ?

I would like to see a "dislike" button as well cause some comments are just plain childish. Or a pacifier button, lol.

OK No harm, no foul.
I thought you were talking to me since you responded specifically quoting me.
I am not sure how it speaks volumes or what you think it says, but I guess thats ok too. I have nothing to hide.
Also, we all know, email can easily be misunderstood.

To the OP, Sorry for the temporary hijack of your thread.

My very good friend is a huge farmer, row crops over 25K acres a year. His "compact" tractor is a 7*** JD with cab and FEL. He doesn't own a tractor without a cab. Him and I never have discussions comparable to those here. His World is just not comparable.

He was telling me this morning that they traded one of their three 24 row JD planters, which are 4 years old, for a new "High Speed" 24 row planter. Cost $200K difference to trade. Hoping the new High Speed concept works. If so in the future they might be able to cut back to just two large planters.

Now what would any of us posters in this thread have to offer him of value for discussion??? :confused3: :D

Around here where we live 4 row is as big as it gets, farm land is a patch here and patch there and if you got 200 acres of tobacco it's in 4 counties and you can't get wider than 4 row down the road. We went to the eastern part of the state a few years ago to a friends farm and he had an 8 row bedder hooked up to a large J.D. tractor in front of his shop, I nudged my brother and said look how big that bedder is, the guy laughed, he said that's my small one, the 12 row is in the field working. Big is different to us all. I can't imagine 24 rows at a time!

That's awesome! What is that about 3-4 million dollars rolling across the field? (not including seed & fertilizer) And people complain about the prices in the grocery store.
