.22 LR Ammunition - any updates on availability?

Wow! That's pre-panic price. Last Winchester bricks I bought were $23/each.
Our local WallyWorld hasn't had any .22LR in so long that they have re-assigned the shelf to other cartridges. They don't even have a spot for .22 anymore. On the other hand, the last time I was in Gander Mtn, they had an entire section full of Federal AutoMatch 325 boxes at $29.99, as I recall.

Same with our wally world here in N.C. I don't understand the panic STILL on .22 ammo. My cousin told me several months ago that he doesn't even need any .22 ammo but if he saw some somewhere he'd probably by it cause you can't find it. I think that's the mentality people have, got to have it. I have a brick of Federal (red & blue boxes) I bought in the early 90's, back then it was expensive! The price is still on the individual boxes inside and it's priced @ $1.29 a box.

I bought 325 boxes at the same store 2 years ago for 24.00. Its been a long time to see any of this in stock.
I went on ammoseek and the same box is 79.99 for the 1000 rd winchesters

Wally World in Conroe Texas had a 2 boxes of .22 for $4.95 so I left them for someone who was desperate. They also had 2 boxes of Perfecta 9mm for $10 so I got those. I had shot them before and they shoot well in all my 9mm guns.
Academy had Aquila brand .22 for $3.47 per box so I got 10 boxes of those and Monarch 9mm brass hulls 115 gr. FMJ for $9 per box so I got 10 boxes. Best prices I have found anywhere to date for this ammo even online without figuring the freight.

Local Walmarts here (Arkadelphia, Hot Springs, Malvern) never have .22 shells so I was surprised to see them in Conroe Texas even if only 2 boxes and at almost $5 per box.

Was able to buy 3 boxes of .22 mags at local gun store for $15 per box, and they had .22 LR, 500 rounds for $42.
Academy almost always has Federal AM22 in stock for $18.95 (325 rounds) They give free shipping if your order is $25 or over and it's not that hard to add a few 50 rounds boxes of some imported brand at $3.49 (50 rounds) to make it up to the $25 mark.
They sometimes limit you to one box per order, but before Christmas, I ordered a box a day for 6 days, adding other things to make up the free shipping limit, no problems. The kids and grandkids thought it was great to get that big old box of 22LR in their stockings.

If the Winchester ammo was the M-22 in 1000 round boxes, that's good stuff and that's a very decent price for it.
A brick is 500 rounds, so you were buying two bricks, still a good price for a darned good round.
