Anyone using the stake pocket tie down(2X4 inch) anchors with D-rings on your trailers. The ones you can move around to each stake pocket. If so how do you like them?Thinking about ordering 4 of them for my PJ trailer.

I don't understand why anyone would use them if they have stake pockets and the rub rail already. Just drop the chain through the hole and hook it to the top edge of the pocket or rail. I have a PJ and there are already connecting points along the whole side.. Save your money unless there is a specific need for them, but I can't think of any.

Do a search - there are a few threads about them on here.

i have some and i like them. i don't always use them. it depends what i'm hauling. if using chains i will use the pocket itself if using straps i like the tie downs

Don't hook anything to the rub rail if you can avoid it. If it rubs against something it can bust your hooks off.

When you use the stake pocket, the hook is protected by the rub rail:

When I use straps on the rub rail, nothing can rub them on the rail.

I do use them on my PJ trailer. I made 6 of my own for about 1/2 the price of store bought ones. I think its much easier to pass the chain through the D-ring then use the ratchet binders. That's just my preference but there is nothing wrong with dropping the chain through the pocket and hooking the grab hook over the top of the pocket like others have shown. There is a video by PJ in my link. I bolted D-rings on my tractor frame also for easy tie down points. I don't like wrapping chains around the axles.

I have them and love them. Very handy to use. Some of my hay straps have oversize hooks that wont fit through the stake pockets, but will hook up to the D rings. The PJ ones are very well made. If you buying a new trailer see if you can get them thrown in or at least a discount. When I bought mine they were a 10$/pair option. I got 2 pair - should have gotten 3 or possibly 4 pare to tie down multiple pieces of equipment.

However be very careful about aftermarket ones - some have very poor welds and the d ring can pull out.
