Ah, that YM2000 with the bug hog and finish mower for $3,400 is a steal. Just the mowers cost that much! The tractor is FREE. Personally, if I had the cash, that would be one easy way to get a FREE tractor and sell off the mowers later.

I went and bought the YM2000 today. As some of you suggested, I had to beat another buyer in order to get it. He also threw in a 4' box blade in addition to the bush hog and finish mower. The bush hog looked well worn but was functional, ditto the box blade. The finish mower looked surprisingly good.

Based on comments from you guys on this forum, I considered the deal to be fair and didn't dicker.

The owner had put a new alternator and radiator on the tractor. He was honest and indicated that it would probably need new brakes. He said that he had checked with Hoye and they have a complete brake kit including springs etc. for $150.00. Has anyone done a brake job? Difficult job or not?

Congratulations. :cool2: Most times the shoes can be turned around and get another 30 years. Inspection would be necessary to know what is needed.

Congrats!! You did good!

Yes I have been in my brakes a few times. They are very simple and if you have any understaning of drum brakes you should have no trouble, even if not. The shoes might even be able to be flipped over for a few more years, or they may just be stuck. I have a few posts about brakes and such on here, search my name or I will post them up in a bit.

Post PICS!!!! GOOD DEAL!!

The finish mower could be worth upwards of $1000 easy if in decent shape.

The Alt is worth $50 to 75 new
Radiators for this tractor are about $350 I think.

I don't pick it up until Sat. I will post some pics then.
So you have paid for it and it sits at their house still:shocked::eek:

I hope you have a good feeling about this guy being an honest guy!! Some folks would sell it twice and claim not to know you or ever seen you!! Maybe you did a bill of sale with him?

Small payment to hold. Balance at pick up. I am perfectly comfortable.
