This area is known as the "Green Hills" area. If you get some high ground you can see 30 miles. My home property is on the highest ridge in our County. I have a long distance view to the Southeast. No mountains here or even tall hills so the view is a bit uneventful. Generally fertile land.
We are right at the South end of the Ice Age Glaciers. Missouri Wildlife Conservation Agency actually tried to populate Ring Necked Pheasants here 40 years ago. After several years of turning loose new birds to keep the population up they finally gave up. Problem was this particular Pheasant needs a certain type of grit to digest it's food. This grit can only be found in Glacier Drift. Took our educated idiots many thousands if not millions of dollars and the lives of hundreds of thousands of Pheasants to figure that out.
