Why SSQA?

Indeed, My mistake. It was an L3901. I'm basically comparing the JD 3039R and the Kubota L3901. Leaning Green, but the money is still in the bank at the moment

The L3901 if it has a quick hitch at all, as it is an option, would be SSQA compatible.

Thanks to everyone here. A lot of good suggestions and ideas were put forward that I greatly appreciate. We closed the deal tonight on a new machine. It will not have SSQA, but I did decide that I would change my choice of implements to better match what we need to do and they will all be JD QA. Primarily, I decided to forego the pallet forks I had been considering for a grapple that will excel at what the forks only did adequately.

It will take a couple of weeks to get her here, but again, thanks for all your comments. This thread, in particular, got me thinking about things besides just SSQA and that was really helpful.

Didn't bother to read all this thread. The video in the first post is stupid. Didn't latch/unlatch anything, sped up the video. Did I miss something? So deceiving. :(

Congrats on the new tractor!!!!

Yeah, I don't get why retailers always leave out the details of how to actually attach implements. Like hooking up a grapple for instance. You get it on the carrier, shut off the tractor, run the hydraulics back and forth a couple of times to release any pressure in the lines, set the parking brake, (don't want the dang thing running over you azz) dismount the tractor, throw the lever or levers for SSQA, or put in the pins and latch them for JDQA, Then remove the quick couplers dirt covers, then hook up the quick couplers, hook up your hose management, bungy cord, spring thingy or whatever you use, crawl back on the machine, fire her up, test the lid function and make sure you look and see that the latches actually latched so the implement does not fall off when you dump, release the brake and take off.

Now I make this sound like a "big deal", and it really isn't, it all goes pretty fast, but to just get an implement on the carrier and act like that is all there is to make it ready to work is total bullstuff. and to then show going back and forth in changing implements is just deceptive. Newbys, actually believe their lying eyes and think that is all there is to it.

See my post #13, second paragraph. Yes, it was deceiving.

Read the grapple threads, almost everyone that gets a grapple says "I wish I would have got it much sooner"

Look at the fun you can have with a grapple: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/211635-grappling-fun-picture-thread.html

xfaxman.

I can see where you are going, but I'll hold off even so. If, 10+ yrs from now, I'm still kicking and need it, I'll probably be happy to spend the cash, and happier still that the money I could have spent on the SSQA was well invested and earned the price of a nice shiny new JDQA grapple in the meantime :) .

But you warned me, so you get first dibs on "I told ya so" :)

Yup, you win. I didn't waste and time losing either. Spent last weekend cutting and splitting firewood and wishing I had a grapple handy. In fact, it will probably get more use than the loader bucket.

You guys got the bug in my ear, and about a week later, I threw in the towel.

I did ditch the idea of mowing my lawn with a belly mower on this rig. Actually, I had to convince my wife that wasn't going to fly. Having done that, I now have financial space to get a grapple.

The SSQA is self adjusting as it wears the JDQA is not. A HUGE selling point for me. It would annoy the crap out of me if the bucket was loose in its carrier.

My DIYed SSQA actually came off a SS,,

Unlike others,,, I took the time to engage the latches!! -

I used the original mounting holes to attach hooks.
With the "in close" location of the hooks,, the lifting power is phenomenal!!
